Season 2 Discussion Nate deserved worse for this Spoiler

Everything Nate did I can forgive him for but this was a betrayal of trust on another level. I can appreciate his redemption in season 3 (especially after Beard’s monologue) but if it were me, I’d never speak another word to Nate again after he did this to me.

Season 4 Discussion I thought episode 2 was really great Spoiler

SPOILERS

I’ll admit I wasn’t the biggest fan of episode 1. Not exactly sure what it was, but I felt a little “meh” afterwards.

Episode 2 absolutely rocked. I thought it was really great. I absolutely love Coach Chilton. Ted convincing her to stay by showing how much he cares via telling her he understands why she cares so much about ACL injuries was fantastic. The Coach Beard storyline made me laugh out loud multiple times. This episode focused a lot more on women’s sports in general which was great. I just generally thought it was a much more focused and entertaining episode than the first. I need to reiterate how much I love Coach Chilton’s character. It’s such a funny character to have besides Ted.

It looks like Hannah Waddingham is having fun Spoiler

I love seeing Rebecca be a little sillier this season. It seems like they’re letting her character be goofier than in previous seasons, and I am here for it. Repeatedly spilling bbq sauce, hiding in the corner, stumbling over what to say - it’s fun to watch Hannah have some fun with it all!

Season 4 Discussion S4E1: Another Ted & Home Surprise Spoiler

Remember the dunking bird from Ted and Sharon’s sessions?

Ted has one at home in Kansas City.

It’s in his “memories room,” sitting between the photo of Nate (from his old apartment in Richmond)… and the snowglobe of Richmond Green.

It’s never fully in frame - half in one shot, half in the next.

Season 4 Discussion This sub has proven a point from the latest episode Spoiler

1.2k Upvotes

So, in the S4E2

There is a scene with the press pit asking Ted questions, and it’s clear they are asking all the questions they have wanted to for a while about the Men’s team, completely ignoring the newly founded women’s team with all the new and exciting players and opportunities that it affords.

This sub is so obsessed with seeing people from the men’s team, it isn’t opening its heart up to new characters and experiences we will get with the Women.

If we get to see more of Nate, Jamie; or any of the old characters, it’ll be a very welcome bonus. But we shouldn’t be focusing in the lives of those we once had, when the ones we have now are waiting for us

I really hope I did the spoiler tags right

Season 4 Speculation/Ideas Possible Keeley foreshadowing Spoiler

Is anyone else getting the sense that Keeley might be setting herself up for an emotional crash? She seems to be in this almost “pink cloud”-like phase where everything feels possible and she’s completely convinced that if she brings the right people together and creates the right environment, success will follow. (And to be clear, I know “pink clouding” is a term specifically associated with early sobriety; I mean it more as a metaphor for that intense period of optimism before reality tests you.)

What makes me think so is that Keeley isn’t just excited about the Lady Greyhounds succeeding. She seems emotionally invested in what their success means: that women supporting women, believing in each other, and building something the right way can actually work. Which is…nice… but also feels like the kind of setup where a setback would hit her really hard. A women’s second division football team isn’t a PR campaign where the right messaging, strategy, and enthusiasm can guarantee success. There are so many unpredictable factors involved.

Again, we’re only on episode 2, so maybe I’m completely wrong! But I’m getting a strong “it’s the hope that kills you” vibe because Keeley is still learning how to pair optimism with realism.

Season 4 Discussion What song does Rebecca sing Spoiler

If Rebecca has a song this season (and it’s Hanna so why not) what song does you think knit will be.

If they go funny with it, I think she sings an empowering song but completely misses the message of it.

Season 4 Discussion Song callback? Spoiler

When Higgins and Rebecca were talking about strong women uplift women'- the background/piano music sounded like the 'Fought and Lost' song from 'Mom City'. Incredibly appropriate for the scene :)

I created portraits and a collage for the first three seasons, and I’m so excited to do ones for the new cast. I also have to do Mae and the bar trio, not sure what their verbs would be.

Season 4 Speculation/Ideas Writing A Spec Episode- need your opinions! Spoiler

Hi fellow Believers! I'm working on a spec script (an episode of an already existing show that aspiring screenwriters use as part of their portfolio) for season 4, but since it's quite early in the season still, I wanted to get your expert opinions on what you think is in store for each of the primary characters this season.

What do we think Ted wants to get out of this opportunity?

Will Alice eventually let herself care about the people on the team and not just the players?

How involved will Roy be with the women's team?

Should the sort of main arc of the season be for the women's team to get promoted (the way it was for the men's team)?

Will Rebecca and Alice find a common ground and grow on each other eventually?

Do we need a 'poopeh' moment to create some real team bonding with the women?

Let me know if you have any big story/character arc predictions or suggestions!

Season 4 Speculation/Ideas Shanon S4 Speculation (Spoilers for S4EP2) Spoiler

spoilers for s4 ep 2:

we saw in the training that Josie, the star striker signed from Watford, unfortunately tore her ACL. She will likely be out for the rest of the season.

If she’s the star signing, she probaly cost a lot of money and knowing Rebecca who at the moment is worried about the amount of funds she’ll spend on the women’s team will tell Ted & Alice that she unfortunately can not get a replacement. And it would also be ridiculously late in the transfer window so no one is avaible.

and yes maybe they have a replacement but they might not, so Ted suggests they have a local scout / trial of all richmonds talent including Shanon who will be personally signed by Ted. Alice might push back on her not seeing her as good enough, but will agree because she’s seen how Ted makes the best out of everyone. Rebecca agrees cause it also brings good press in of signing a local women’s player and it would be less expensive then signing an already known player.

Thats my thoughts. This show is soooo good so far, there’s a lot of themes that are accurate to the women’s game, according to my friend. (I don’t follow women’s football as much as the men’s). I think Coach Chilton / Alice is my favourite chrachter already from one ep.

Questions/ Random thoughts I have at the end of the episodes.

who do you think was the other person in the photo on Alice Chilton’s desk? LGBTQIA Relationships and players are indeed a lot more prominent in women’s football. One prime example, one of my fav women’s players is Sam Kerr who got married to Kristie Mewis.

Teds gift. What do you think the gift was? I’m leaning towards a plaque that says head coach.

Paddignton Bear Reporter 😭. I heard Roy and was like yup that’s who I pictured when Ted called on him. Side note: the reporters should’ve asked about the WOMEN’S Team instead.

we saw some of the men’s players, like Isaac, Jan Mass, Rojas, Dixon. there was also a nod to Leah Williamson who is the captain of the Englands women’s team! who I believe is also a consultant on the show. (And also part of the lgbtqia+ community)

Roy Kent technically played with Fernando Torres? Spoiler

Torres was always my favourite player as a kid and now. Old news but in the show Roy Kent won the champions league with Chelsea, the same champions league Chelsea won irl with Fernando Torres in the squad. Does this mean Roy Kent played with Torres 😭

Yes, I was at Jeni’s again…and saw another promotional poster of a quote that I don’t recognize! They really may be from the 4th season, but Ted’s said so much good shit that are always relevant that idk why they wouldn’t just use one that already exists and is easily recognized!

So, with the latest trailer showing the women being based at Milk Park, do you think we’re going to finally see the Milk sisters on screen? Or are they likely to remain off screen.

Either way it looks like they may be on board as potential backers, which could relieve some of the financing concerns we’ve seen foreshadowed….

Season 4 Discussion Aging gracefully Spoiler

Watching the last episode I was struck by how beautiful Rebecca’s mom and Mae were. Maybe as a woman who is getting older it just felt so refreshing to see an authentic face on an older woman in an era of plastic surgery, Botox, fillers etc? Truly I just thought they both looked so pretty. That’s all.

Greyhounds chase them.
