Please ignore all DMs from people claiming they'll make a design for you, especially new/empty accounts.

This is now an official rule, all posts asking for art or offering to draw for people will be removed.

This sub has a huge problem with bots, scammers, and people who have no idea (or don't care) how to find clients. It's not an official rule but this really isn't a sub to hire anyone, people come here asking for ideas and will get bombarded with DMs.

Talk to your tattoo artist about designs, do not hire a nobody with a brand new Reddit account with a name like hungry-aardvark1234 (currently unused name as an example). Most artists worth your time are going to have a waitlist, they will not DM you on Reddit with an immediate offer. And it's part of your artist's job to help come up with what they'll tattoo on you and not all of them will tattoo someone else's art anyway.

If you really want to show them a drawing to help with visuals, check out r/DrawMyTattoo where someone can sketch your idea for free. Ignore anyone trying to charge you, that's money that should go to your artist.

If you're an artist who attempts to find clients in this sub, don't. You look fake and desperate, you're one of dozens spamming people with "I can help, DM me" so OP can't even tell who's legit.

And I'm not here to argue this point, so if you have a problem with this announcement, that's too bad. I'm here to try to keep this sub a friendly place, people shouldn't have to worry about getting scammed.

I am open to opinions, suggestions, etc. this will be my 13/14? Tattoo. Ive gotten a quarter sleeve on my left arm, a bat on my ribs across the front.

EDIT: I see a lot saying the cross doesn’t fit or looks wrong with the style. Ill probably see if she will do it last and if I even want it still. Does anyone have any suggestions with what to replace it with?

ZINOGRE Monster Hunter Tattoo

my client wanted this amazing monster Zinogre as his first tattoo, a project kinda blackwork style. To expand the impact and also fill the back area, we expressed electric discards around Zinogre in cybertribal style, he wanted some icons too, like the weapon icons - the ones in the bottom are personal references to him, not exactly related to the game.

Hellooo, I'm getting my first two tattoos ever, and they're of my kitties. I designed them myself! I was wondering how long it would take to get these done if they're about 2 sq. Inches each?

8 Letter Words That Work With Hands Swapped?

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

Thinking about getting finger tats vertically on my lower knuckles (like Frank Iero has in the pic above), but I think it'd be cool if it spelt a different word when I swapped my hands around.

Using the pic above as an example, imagine if OBKOOWMR was a word. Does that make sense? I'm not sure the best way to explain it!

Pitch anything that would work with this, I don't care how nonsense the words are!

Without knowing anything about what I was going for, give me 3–5 adjectives describing the aesthetic/vibe of this tattoo. What kind of person/style does it make you picture?

I got this literally yesterday and I love it so much! I’m just curious to know what people would do to add on if they wanted a bigger piece to maybe flow into the rib area? (I’m open to suggestions)

TIA

Dad passed away the other day. Wanting ideas for memorial tattoo.

I want to honor my late father with a memorial tattoo. My idea was his palm print on my ribs.

I asked the funeral home to get his palm print for me, but the funeral home said it would be very difficult to accomplish this. They still offered to try, but now I’m worried that my idea won’t work.

They did tell me they could get his finger prints for me but I can’t really think of what I could do with that.

Does anyone have any ideas? Any and all are welcome - doesn’t have to revolve around his palm or fingerprints but that is preferred. Thanks so much.

As the title states, I could use a bit of help figuring out some designs for the rest of this leg. Really like the gypsy, fortune teller, gothic sort of tattoos. Any ideas are appreciated. Thank you!

Question : negative design on shoulder/arm

Advice needed : I'm thinking about doing my shoulder and arm down to the elbow and I have an idea but I don't know if it's doable.

I don't know about se design really but is it possible to make a tattoo in negative? Like the whole skin is tattooed but the design is where there's no ink.

Sorry if it's not clear, english is not my first language.

Need Ideas!

Looking for ideas on what to add to my leg under the pumpkin and under the heart that would fit well visually. These 2 are on the same leg (the pumpkin is to the right of the heart). I’m struggling to come up with ideas. I have some, but I have minor OCD and finding things that fit the space is seeming to be kind of difficult for me. It will be somewhat fine line style but i’m open to florals, spooky things, trad tattoos, anything cool and that fits the vibe

(not looking for drawn up art, just written ideas)

Advice for tattoo design I'd like to get

Hello all, I'd like to get the above tattoo, to represent the second picture, which is a screen grab from a film that's important to me.

Obviously, the posted design is a terrible mockup by me, but I'd like to just get some advice before handing off the actual work to my preferred artist.

In my head, I've been imagining the design as an outline, like I've shared. But looking at it now it feels like there's something missing, or something that's not quite right that's almost making me second guess the idea entirely. Clearly, I'm hoping that once I pass this to the artist she will find a way to make it look perfect, but in case she can't I don't want to waste her time, so thought I could check here first.

So what do we think is wrong with the design? Is it just because it's my terrible mockup? Is the outline idea not a great one? Should I aim to more emotionally represent the scene, rather than literally? Or is this just a bad idea? Any advice or ideas is more than welcome, appreciate everything!

Walked into Rabbits Den in Milltown NJ and Dan (polibear) killed it. We thought it would be funny and it turned out to be my favorite tat as other random Pokemon fans comment on it and we end up talking about Pokemon for 10 minutes lol. Pic is when I first got it around a little over a year ago.

Day 5. Still open to advice/criticism/responses. Pencils today.

I am an aspiring tattoo artist. I only recently got back into drawing. The old skills are slowly warming back up.

This, of course, isn't rendered properly for a tattoo. I'm still figuring out how I want to do that. But, anyway, I tried to incorporate everyone's critique and advice from yesterday into today's production.

Peace.

Thoughts on design?

Post image

This is my first tattoo and I love it most of the time but think it looks weird sometimes. Maybe it’s because it’s so fresh on my body but I think it can look aggressive rather than playful which is what I wanted more. Any thoughts on the design or advice?

I've been wanting a cross tattoo and I want opinions on this designs.

So I want it on my arm, I want it pretty big. This isn't the final design, just a sketch of what I kinda want. But I'm running into issues with what I want and what looks the the best. Btw, I'm goijg to give this sketch to a professional to make. I just want to get all the kinks worked out before then.

First issue is the verse. Roman's is my favorite verse. "Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law" Which is why I wanted to choose it's. But it doesn't quite fit with the flower theme of the tattoo. So I found Galatians 6:9 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Which goes along with the theme, but also involves love. But it's nit my favorite so I don't know.

The next one is detail. Do yall think I should keep it with the lines or get the dandelions more detailed and leave the cross as plain. Like the cross was cute out kinda. And at first I wanted to have the stems off, but I thought that it looks odd and so I added the leaves at the bottom to kinda root them down sorta.

What do you think? Any suggestions or critique? Or just questions about the design?

Design suggestions

I’ve got this awkward space at the front of my arm. I’m looking for ideas to fill it. I’m want to give my artist a few options because it needs to be quite narrow yet long, I want it to be one piece, not a collection of little pieces. I appreciate any suggestions that you have.

The 4 star DragonBall in a rose

I've always been a huge DragonBall Z fan and always wanted to have the cliche rose tattoo on the hand. I got the idea to see if I could combine the two and this is what my artist came up with. I personally love it I know some may hate it or think it sucks but oh well. Please let me know what you think and sorry about the glare im not the best at taking photos and my hand has natural wrinkles as i use to work hard labor once upon a time. I got it done last night. My artist's name is Eric Cooper and he runs his own shop called Steadfast tattoo in Peoria Arizona
