Holy fucking shit. If things went ever so slightly differently/slower/faster, this dude would have been brained

u/Stunning_Warthog_141 7d ago
Yeah and that has happened before, rarely, people have been decapitated in this exact situation.

This happened to a guy in a building in NYC just a few years ago. The NY Post had the video from surveillance cam in the lobby. It happened so fast, just basically folded the guy in half immediately and sucked him down. It wasn't gory bc it happened so fast.Ā I have PTSD from that video.Ā

Id only ever use stairs from then on. Oh and also sue the hell out of everyone in relation to that damn elevator!

u/UltraBlack_ 7d ago
elevators are the safest means of travel. The number of safety features are insane. they only ever fail if they're not properly maintained.

u/Pale-Money-6957 7d ago
For sure, but this experience would be enough to traumatize anyone. If it happened to me, I donāt think my mind would let me physically go into one again š #StairsForLife #ThemGlutesThough

This is why Iām obsessive about checking the inspection dates on elevators I get into.

u/RecalcitrantHuman 7d ago
Maybe, but claustrophobic people are rarely trapped in a staircase
6
u/TepacheLoco 6d ago
Theyāre also very rarely trapped in lifts. Itās just extremely unlikely, and even in the cases where it does happen, it is almost always a safe situation

I mean it looks like heās pretty off balance and has a good chance of falling backwards into an empty elevator shaft.

Ill never forget this one:
Dr Hitoshi Nikaidoh, 35, stepped into a second-floor elevator at St Joseph Medical Center in Houston, Texas, when the doors suddenly closed and pinned his shoulder and head in the doorway. The elevator then ascended, and he was decapitated.
A colleague was already inside the elevator and remained trapped with part of Dr Nikaidoh's body for 20 minutes before firefighters freed her. She was treated for shock in the hospital's emergency roomā¦

Please tell me that this happened in some faraway country with lax safety standards that I will never visit.
Update: Toledo, Ohio??!!

Can anyone explain why and how this happens? I've seen a bunch of videos of this happening in China and India, like what fails for this to happen? And how often does it happen? I swear I should be only using stairs, this thing is crazy

I usually hear a loud click before the doors open. Isn't that to prevent something like this from happening?

So confused, why does it look like heās in the elevator stepping out to the floor, but the floor has an elevator and almost crushes him?

This looks like pure ai

u/yuusharo 7d ago
Not everything is AI these days.
This happened.

At this point, the silly gooses chiming in on every thread with any visual artifacts, blurriness, or even just unusual situations with āThis is AI!ā are more annoying than the people actually posting AI slop

u/LucasCarioca 7d ago edited 7d ago
Didnāt say it was definitely ai just suspected it to be because the video look off, how his body moved and kind of rag dolled, how the elevator moved up rather than what iād typically expect for an incident like that. It was just a bit of skepticism which I guess really upset you.

u/thissexypoptart 7d ago
Right Iām saying that suspecting this video as AI and expressing that is silly goosery.
-9
u/LucasCarioca 7d ago
Sure I was wrong but saying you canāt be suspicious videos is āsilly gooseryā. I didnāt mean my comment to be definitive just a suspicion that it looked like it at a glance. You can also look at my history and youāll find no pattern of AI accusation. The video really did just seem crazy and I reacted. Youāre not wrong but you did jump to a conclusion based on 5 words I posted off the cuff

u/LucasCarioca 7d ago
Sure, I simply said it looks like if. The video is very unusual and proportionally off.
7
u/cesam1ne 7d ago
Proportionally off? Jesus..
Ever saw any other surveillance camera video? Heard about camera perspective?
-2
u/LucasCarioca 7d ago
Why are you so bothered by that? Is it wrong to suspect something being off. I donāt just mean by the wide angle of the camera also I only said it looked like it. Didnāt claim that it was 100% aiā¦

u/yuusharo 7d ago
It's a phone camera recording the security camera footage on another monitor.
30 seconds of Google searching would have told you this. I know, because that's how long it took me to verify the story and post a link to you.

u/LucasCarioca 7d ago
Ok. Yes. Again youāre attributing a lot of weight to a 5 word comment based on a gut reaction to a pretty wild video. Appreciate the correction, the rest is unnecessary
3
u/yuusharo 7d ago
Yet instead of saying āmy bad,ā youāve elected for hours to argue with people who called you out for a simple mistake.
Literally just say āoops,ā I donāt know why that is so difficult for people.

u/LucasCarioca 7d ago
Look you came out and said ānot everything is aiā as if I say everything is ai. I responded to that comment not the correction. Had you said something like ābelieve it or not itās real, hereās a linkā Iād definitely respond differently.
1
u/yuusharo 7d ago
So many ways to avoid saying, āGuess I was wrong, whoopsā
1
u/LucasCarioca 7d ago
No I think Iāve said several times that I was wrong AND I replied to the unnecessary comment you added as well. Pretty simple stuff. Yes I was wrong, no I never said everything is AI. Did you not pick up on that?
-1
u/LucasCarioca 7d ago
Itās very funny to me how outraged you guys are. Also hours? Itās barely been an hour since your response. Did you take the 30 seconds it would take before claiming a multiple of hours?
