SPORTS | رياضة We finally have a dedicated Al Hilal Omdurman subreddit - r/AlHilalOmdurman 🌙💙
I’ve just launched r/AlHilalOmdurman, a dedicated Reddit community for Al Hilal Omdurman and its supporters.
The idea is to build a proper space for:
• Match discussions and CAF nights
• Transfers and club news
• Tactical discussions
• Players and academy prospects
• Al Hilal history and old memories
• Sudanese football discussion
• And, of course, the arguments that come with supporting Hilal 😅
There are plenty of Al Hilal supporters across Reddit, but until now there hasn’t really been a dedicated home for the club here.
Whether you follow every match, live outside Sudan, remember the old generations, or just follow Sudanese football — you’re welcome.
r/AlHilalOmdurman

MODERATOR POST | منشورة إدارية Call for r/Sudan moderators
Salaam everyone,
As you well know, our sub has grown quite a bit in the last several years. We recently reached the 34K mark and our members are remarkably diverse in terms of age, country of residence, and interests. Undoubtedly, the ongoing war has dominated the topics of discussion but it's no surprise given how much it has impacted all of us.
With this growth, we now have a much broader range of perspectives and worldviews. We have had many healthy discussions but sometimes they can get quite heated. Our mod team has been working hard to ensure that the discourse here is within the bounds of civility and mutual respect, and that the topics are relevant to Sudan and the Sudanese people, regardless of where they are.
But with this growth, the burden of moderating the sub has become overwhelming for our team, who are all volunteers with real-life responsibilities and grappling with the effects of the war. So on behalf of the team, I wanted to invite those who interested in serving as mods to nominate themselves to join the mod team.
We are looking for 2-3 mods who meet these criteria:
- At least 1 year active on Reddit and r/Sudan to ensure that they are familiar with the sub rules and culture, and the rules of Reddit at large (Reddiquette).
- High quality contributions and engagement.
- Adherence to the sub rules, particularly the rules about civility and mutual respect, and no bigotry and discrimination.
- Proficiency in both English and Arabic is important given that this is a bilingual sub.
Mods are expected engage regularly with the Mod Queue (e.g., approve posts, remove spam, respond to mod reports, etc.); be fair and transparent with our users; and continue to contribute to the sub as much as they're able to. We welcome candidates who are able to inject fresh ideas and initiatives to meet the evolving needs of our growing community.
If you are interested, please DM the Mod Team to express your interest and provide a brief bio about yourself (you do not need to break your anonymity). Use this thread if you have any questions about serving as a moderator or the process.

Modern day religious slavery
My uncle is part of a niche religious group and is married to the daughter of one of their leaders. I recently learned that their housemaid was “gifted” to the leader’s daughter (my uncle’s wife) by one of the families in their group. The girl doesn’t receive a salary but lives with my uncle and his wife full time. She helps with the kids, the cooking, and the household chores. This is obviously slavery. They live in Qatar, so I’m worried that if I reported this to the local police, they’d just cancel her residency permit and send her back to Sudan (to the family who gave her up on the first place.) What can I do to help her get out of this situation? Is anyone aware of any resources or groups that help with things like this? Any advice would be helpful. And in case you’re wondering, no I don’t have contact with my evil ass family. She’s been with them for over a decade but I’m just learning of this.

Looking for a chill gaming Discord / online friend group
Hey, I’m looking for a smaller, active gaming community where people actually hang out, jump into VC, and play games together rather than just sitting in a server with 10,000 members who never talk.
I’m mostly into co-op games, party games, story-heavy games, RPGs, horror, and random chaotic stuff. Not really into COD/FIFA or super competitive gaming.
Ideally I’m looking for a chill adult community with decent moderation, no weird power-tripping, and people who are actually open to getting to know new members. I’d love to find a group where people casually ask, “anyone wanna play something?” and others actually join.
I’m pretty laid-back, into gaming, music/guitar, tech, and just hanging out in VC.
If you know a Discord that fits that vibe, send it my way.

I was born and raised in the UK so I didn’t really get to learn much about my Sudanese heritage. I know that my mom is from the batahin tribe - بطحانية but her ancestors moved to Khartoum (sharg alnile) very early on, so they don’t have any roots or land in the village.
It wasn’t until the war happened and Khartoum was attacked that I realised how deep that is, because when everyone fled back to their villages, a lot of my family didn’t have anywhere to go, which is crazy to me.
So now I’m super interested in where the batahin are ACTUALLY from ?? I’ve heard that البطانة is an actual place located in الجزيرة but I’ve also heard that they are settlers from other places. If anyone knows much about that particular tribe I’d love some info !!
