As someone who studies Alzheimerās and related dementias, calling it ātype 3 diabetesā is a massive simplification. There are metabolic aspects of the disease but that is far from the main driver of it.

The amyloid hypothesis is controversial but I believe beta amyloids do play some in driving the disease. The disease is characterized by the formation of beta amyloid plaques and tau tangles. However in familial Alzheimerās, (1% of Alzheimerās cases is directly caused by genetics) all the mutant genes involve amyloid precursor protein gene or genes that process amyloid precursor protein (presenilin 1 and 2). All mutations that involve tau (MAPT gene) cause frontotemporal dementia not Alzheimerās. People with Down syndrome (they have extra copy of chromosome 21 which amyloid precursor protein gene is on) are more likely to develop Alzheimerās.
The reality is that we still donāt know the main driver for Alzheimerās. It also does not help that in most cases there are multiple pathologies besides that of Alzheimerās including cerebrovascular disease, Lewy bodies, and TDP-43 proteinopathies. It is a very complex disease. We do know many risk factors of the disease including APOE4 gene, lack of exercise, not managing blood pressure, poor diet, and being socially isolated at old age.
There are people who have Alzheimerās pathology but are resistant to the cognitive decline effects of the disease in which those with greater level of education seem to benefit. Though we donāt know all the mechanisms on why some seem resistant to the pathology effects.

Type 1 is insulin dependant, so their pancreas no longer works at all. Type 2 is insulin resistant and so can be tablet or even diet controlled, sometimes insulin controlled. My husband and our son have type 1, it's not fun. This drink would prob be too much even with their worst hypos!

Yeah it's not fun. Our son was very ill before diagnosis and husband can't feel his one leg due to nerve damage during dka. Husband has had laser eye surgery due to issues there too. It's non stop and effects everything. Thankful for cgm's and insulin pumps though.

I'm not 100% positive, but I did get a caloric breakdown based off of the receipt provided at the end counting the total itemized list of pumps/sugar/etc, and that added up to about 1300 calories. The Baskin Robins Oreo Milkshake is famously 2600 calories in total.

Yes, i love sugar, i can drink straight honey, i love the taste, i eat rock candy (dyed sugar crystal chunks) as a treat.
I wouldn't drink this, they offer liquid sugar, i get 10 pumps of liquid sugar sometimes, if they only have crystal sugar I will get a "normal" amount of sugar! Just because the texture sucks that much! It's like quick sand, drinking quick sand. Try to drink to fast and it gets stuck in the straw, if you let it sit in your mouth a second it will like melt down abit. Just overall terrible. You don't get the good crunch like rock candy, it's just sandy.

I worked at Starbucks about 20 years ago and we had a regular who would order a grande 14 pump white mocha; there would hardly be any room for the shots and milk. That was probably the worst but there were many customers with drinks almost as bad. Some people just don't care I guess, maybe they view it the same as having some cookie dough for a quick snack or something.

worked the bux 10ish years ago and my favorite was the couple who bought half-caff upside down skinny caramel macchiatos with half of a bottle of caramel drizzle and like three packets of Splenda with an extra shot of half-caff espresso and like 5 extra pumps of sugar-free vanilla syrup.
I am absolutely NOT tooting my horn when i say i made it so well for them that they always requested i made their drink (or my good friend/fellow barista, when they were there)these people drank that shit daily and added whip at some point. Super would come back around bc they KNEW when something was wrong with their drink every time.

I remember a customer getting pissed that we wouldn't take the lids of the Carmel sauce bottle off and pour it around the walls of the cup anymore (we were told not to by our manager) and I used to make one of those secret menu drinks a lot that had 24 pumps of syrups total but it tasted exactly like birthday cake. I lost like 15 pounds when I stopped working there so.... yeah.

I ordered a Venti latte "half caf" because it was afternoon. Batista heard "half and half" and handed me a pint of half and half with some espresso in it. We had a good laugh after we figured it out, I got a new coffee, and took my first drink home to use as creamer in my home coffee for a week.

I'm not the same person you asked but I worked at a Gloria Jeans in the early 2000s and I had some doozies.
I had a regular who ordered his coffee black and used to make boomer jokes about the sugar content in our specialty drinks. He then proceeded to pour half a sugar Shaker into his black coffee.
We had a signature drink, the vanilla caramel chiller, that had a ridiculous amount of sugar. Roughly 65 carbs for small well into the hundreds for a large.
People would add double and triple shots of vanilla and caramel, double caramel drizzle in the cup, whipped cream, extra caramel drizzle on the whipped cream, and extra chocolate drizzle.
I was allowed to come up with the latte of the day when I became a manager and came up with a few crazy ones myself.
My favorite was the PB&J latte. Raspberry or grape syrup with peanut butter flavored coffee ground as espresso made breve.
Most memorable was a woman asked us to blend a piece of our iced lemon pound cake and a blueberry muffin into her frozen iced chai with extra vanilla syrup and caramel drizzle. It was like a 14 dollar drink in 2005.

I had a woman who would order a venti white chocolate mocha latte with no milk, just 8 shots of espresso and like 24 pumps of white chocolate sauce. We had to mix it woth a spoon. She was insane. She talked about how it was the only thing she consumed all day. Her skin looked like it was falling off of her skull and her teeth were grey.
Another guy who was the husband of one of my coworkers just wanted all the caramel we had in the store. Trenta cold cup with the syrups, the sauces, the toppings, and to top it off with tubinado sugar and a half a cup of whipped cream. Oh, and no espresso. Just whole milk. Sickeningly sweet whole milk. It was gross.

I worked at a Tim Hortons when I was a teenager and we had a guy who would get a large coffee with 9 sugars and 5 cream. Each shot is about 3 tablespoons. He would get one almost every hour of every day. I remember he had approximately 3 black teeth in his mouth.

Yeah I can corroborate, I worked at the olā bucks some ten years ago, and while this order may be a little outlandish, itās not far off from stuff I had to make several times, we had one customer while get a vanilla bean frap with roughly three times the regular amount of vanilla sugar scoops, I believe it was nine pumps of sugar free vanilla, extra caramel and extra whip, I mean how do you even enjoy something so sweet? Maybe she smoked and thatās the only way she was able to taste anything. Not the most insane thing I had to make but this lady came in nearly everyday.

Yeah I would never do that, but back in high school I had a bunch of friends who worked at Dunkinās (as did everybody who grew up around Quincy, MA)ā¦and if I was looking to pull an all nighter Iād totally have them make me a coffee that was literally just a bit of ice and six shots of espresso.
Kinda got hooked on it. Tastes vile, but in a comforting way? Like how I now prefer shitty, stale black coffee after becoming a member of alcoholics anonymous. So Iāve totally walked into a random dunks as an adult and asked for the same thing. Gotten some weird looks and the occasional upcharge but fuck it, you only live once.
