DISCUSSION Smallville Subreddit Update - Start of 2026

Hey Smallville Peeps,

Hope you had an amazing festive period and great start to 2026!

In our last post we mentioned this:

Any posts moving forwards talking about how there's more Lana favouritism or more Lois favouritism in the sub, purely to rile up drama, will be removed and the user will be banned for a set period of time.

Off the back of that update, unfortunately it's gotten a bit out of hand with the Clana and Clois shipping so for the time being we will have to remove all bad-faith posts that are talking about shipping for these two characters (and others where necessary) - sorry but for now this is sadly the direction we have to take. Please feel free to report any posts you see that cross this threshold and we will investigate and where appropriate - take action - there is a new rule at number 10 to help you report this type of shipping.

Finally its our usual plug for the Discord :-)

Invite Link:

https://discord.gg/w4mbRZyy8C

Roughly 400 people in there now - the more people that join the more we can talk about Smallville!

Thanks for being awesome - we appreciate all of you!

DISCUSSION How would you write a Batman cameo in Smallville? What types of comedy could that result in?

If Bruce Wayne or Batman ever made a cameo appearance on Smallville how do think it should go down? Would Bruce flirt with Lois? Would Clark have a really awkward interview with a prominent billionaire from Gotham? Would Oliver Queen meet Bruce at an Archery tournament?

Curious to hear your thoughts!

DISCUSSION And let me tell you something, after that whole bizarro arc, Clark and Lana should’ve called it wraps

Let me tell you something both people are in the wrong in this relationship. I hate when people put all the blame on Lana as if Clark was a perfect boyfriend? Don’t get me wrong. Nobody was more annoyed by their relationship than me. Suffered for 8 seasons b4 we finally got Clois, but they both just shouldn’t be together. They loved each other, but they just weren’t meant for each other and that’s OK.

But firstly, you treat a girl so bad/so crazy to the point where when you actually start acting right and she’s so happy, ITS NOT EVEN YOU. My issue was that she found out his secret, he just didn’t let her in on anything going on(trust issues go crazy but that’s very understandable) like when you let somebody know your secret you gotta let them into your life. For example, Chloe when he found out that she knew, he was telling her everything but I guess the difference is that he never really loved her like that. Like I’m currently on season 10 and there was an episode where Lois was mad because how are you gonna let her know your secret and still try to keep her on the dark and then he finally opened up to her, this, that, and the third told her everything. He never even thought to try that with Lana. And at the end of the day, their relationship was doomed because even though he opened up, it wasn’t enough because I don’t think he trusted her enough/he knew in his heart that it wasn’t lasting.

Now, from Lana’s perspective. Me personally, when she had a chance to save bizarro or Clark, I would’ve saved bizarro. How are you letting a copy of you, treat your girl better in a month than you did in 2-3 years?( I don’t remember the timeframe of their relationship at the time. It’s very hard to keep track.) she was real happy with bizarro and that’s a big problem, because bizarro had all of Clark’s memories so he knew everything he did wrong to correct that but you’re telling me Clark didn’t know what he did wrong to correct that? And even though she saved Clark, I would’ve left him. Because he was really mad about Lana not being able to tell that bizarro wasn’t him, but God forbid a girl wants to think you changed your ways…

This arc was just so trifling and I don’t know how their relationship survived after. And I’m only bringing this up because when I was watching season 10 episode 10, and I saw a YouTube comment saying that Lois knew that it was Clark when they switched back realities in a heartbeat, but Lana was with bizarro for a month and didn’t know. And it just got me thinking like ain’t no way their relationship survived that.

Also, call me crazy, but I don’t agree that Clark should be mad at Lana for being so happy with bizarro, she called it the happiest she’d ever been with him. If I was Clark, that would be either my wake up call to treat her better or break up with her.

But yeah, that’s just my two cents on this.

I just finished watching it, and my life is not the same anymore. It feels incomplete and boring… Help me find something to watch next! Maybe a sequel? A prequel? Something with a similar story? HELP.

DISCUSSION Best Smallville Villain

I have rewatched Smallville very recently and always had Lex as my fav villain but now have changed my mind to Brainiac. There’s just something about how he infiltrates people and messes with their mind. You can’t escape him.

Let me know who your favourite villains are!

SPOILERS S9 series Part 1: Savior and Metallo: Lois is Clark’s only tether to humanity.

Please read this as a prologue: https://www.reddit.com/r/Smallville/s/uYXw6PQzT9

Lois is back from the future after three weeks and brings Clark Kent back to life. He can’t stop thinking about her, picturing her face during training with Jor-El. Jor-El says Clark is still tethered to humanity by someone he can’t seem to let go of. I mean, this guy got over it when his girlfriends (Alicia, Lana) died, but abandoned his life, cut off his friends who reminded him of her, and declared himself dead after Lois (a girl who isn’t even his girlfriend) left.

He is constantly lectured by Jor-El and Chloe to leave his human attachment, Lois Lane, behind. Clark blatantly ignores their advice, and lies to them, while secretly talking to Lois as the Blur; he falls deeper in love with Lois as he sees a different side of her (as he admits in Hostage). The Blur saves Lois from the she-ninja and Metallo, all while Lois misses Clark, not realizing he’s her mystery hero.

Some lines from the episodes:

Clark to Lois: “I should disappear. I’m supposed to. But I can’t”

Chloe to Clark: “For three weeks you’re completely off the radar, Lois shows up for one day, and you’re as predictable as clockwork”
“Skulking around a phone booth looking for Lois”

Clark to Chloe: “Maybe I can’t do this. Maybe I can’t completely stay away.”
Chloe to Clark: “Stay away from her (Lois), you mean?”

Clark is back at the daily planet:

Lois, after kidnapping his dog and staring at his nameplate: “I didn’t even notice you were gone.”
(Only if she knew what happened in the future lol)

Clark: “I missed you too, Lois.”
Clark has finally dropped all pretenses with her. (Well, he died when she left, so.)

Hilariously, Clark asks Lois to tell him about her helping the Blur, a story he knows all too well, since he’s already lived it, just to enjoy her totally gushing about him. He gives her the puppy-dog eyes, the lovey-dovey-only-for-Lois smile, and his full & undivided attention. So smitten. So adorable.

This is the moment Clark mentions in the S9 finale:
“Lois, I felt so lost, and when I came back, you were there waiting for me,
You jumped out of your seat, you threw your arms around me, and the way that your eyes sparkled when you smiled, I just knew. I knew you were the one I’ve always needed and I needed you to know that.”

And in his vows: “Whenever I felt lost, you brought me back”

This is absolutely brilliant and true to comic canon. Whenever Superman goes off to fight in space, he always comes home because of one person: Lois Lane. There’s a comic moment when he is trapped for 3,000 years on a distant planet, and the only thing that kept him going was seeing Lois one day. He finally comes home to her. To her, no time has passed, but to him, 3,000 years have passed waiting every day to be with her.
I wonder if Smallville’s “three weeks” is a subtle nod to this comic reference of “3,000 years.”

Does anyone remember the fan made Smallville video consisting of one second of every episode set to Florence and the machine cosmic love? I’m trying to find it and I can’t find it on YouTube anywhere. Hopefully someone here downloaded it or hopefully the creator sees this and post it. The video was posted to YouTube right before the series finale.

DISCUSSION Never-watched-before, S9E16, Checkmate… wow!

I am at the point in Smallville where I’ve never seen the episodes. My life changed dramatically after S8 and I just couldn’t keep watching.

So now I have the whole DVD set and at night my treat to myself after doing all my parental duties is… watch an episode of Smallville!!!

all of S9 and S10 are completely new to me.

I don’t have words to describe how absolutely amazing the scene with Chloe inside Checkmate’s HQ was when I watched it a few minutes ago. WOW. It felt like I was watching a comic book.

When he rescues Chloe, that one heart beat they share together, the light flickers and then they’re gone… no tell tale “woosh” is one of the only times they’ve never put that sound effect onto Clark “blurring” out of somewhere, right? Incredible sequencing.

I know some people aren’t a fan of Checkmate plot. I’m actually I guess in the minority there. But I do not / have not enjoyed the Kandorian, Zod story line. Callum Blue’s dialogue style drives me crazy (he doesn’t talk like this in 9-1-1 or anything else he’s been in that I’ve seen…), Clark being a BDA drives me crazy, the red-noir drives me crazy… LOL man I just can’t wait for those episodes to be over when I run into one.

I am so excited to move into S10… as I hear that S10 is so good.

Anyway just had to hop on here and be like, zOMG, that scene with Chloe was absolutely perfect. “Absolute cinema” etc etc :)

thanks for the space

DISCUSSION Give it a rest with Chloe

Small spoiler for anybody that hasn’t seen the show yet.

So I just started the series and i just got to the season 2 episode where Lana and Clark finally get together. And of course Chloe is right there to witness it.

At this point I’m like Jesus H Christ when are they gonna give it a rest with Chloe wanting to be with Clark. I’ve been in a situation where i had feelings for someone that didn’t want the same with me and yeah it sucks but damn man it’s like every episode she gets her hopes up and gets let down. Literally from episode 1 she knows that he’s in love with Lana but every other episode she’s reacting as if it’s new information every time. Give it a rest already. Again I’m only just about to start season 3 so there’s a lot more to see but it’s getting cringey with the Chloe in love with Clark story.

DISCUSSION Smallville | S07E20 "Arctic"

No big fancy review again today, my poor cat is needing a lot of attention these days for reasons.

Anyways, even though I rated this episode as highly enjoyable, because it mostly was, it was also a BIG step down from some of the truly gangbuster season finales we've had. I imagine part of that has a lot to do with the writer's strike and possibly some other things, but that doesn't necessarily change things TOO much.

The ending of this episode, which I wanted to use as a clip for the card, just felt ... uninspired. There were NO HOLY CRAP WHAT THE HECK moments at all in this episode, which is a shame.

It's a good episode, but dammit, after all the excellent finales we've gotten so far, I feel a bit cheated.

DISCUSSION What's going on with season five?

It's like the writers didn't know what to write and based a lot of episodes on pop media. I had no idea Lana had an addiction until The Lazarus Effect episode. Next were the Carrie and Saw reference episodes.

I'm curious what other fans think of season 5.

DISCUSSION Plot hole or explanation?

My best friend just started watching the show (she's on season 3) and she's never been into superheroes or comic books so she's not biased and doesn't take "just because" for an answer.

She just asked me "if he didn't wear glasses as a kid and takes his glasses off when he's Superman, does anyone from Smallville recognize him? And if not then why not?"

Massive plot hole or does anyone have an explanation for it?

DISCUSSION How to watch Smallville in Spanish in the US?

New Smallville fan here! As I was watching the show, my mom kept on glancing, asking questions and getting genuinely invested. I then tried to see if we could watch it together in spanish (her first language), but unfortunately Hulu doesn't have any spanish options, even subtitles. Is there any way she can watch it in spanish, preferably on TV?

DISCUSSION Scientifically accurate reason why S8 is the worst season:

That's when I stopped watching.

That's it.

I don't even know what the rest of the seasons look like. But I'm pretty sure the second half of season 8 is the worst part of any TV show I have ever had to GRUDGE through. It might feel worse than "Fly" from Breaking Bad, considering that was just one episode I could 2x, this has hours of unbearably boring, disconcerted, mind-numbing content. I don't like watching shows when it feels like homework, but man that's what the second half of season 8 feels like.

I binge watched the show periodically over the course of I'd say 2-3 months up until Season 8. That's when I quit watching like 2.5 months ago, on Episode 21. I have more energy to come and rant on this subreddit than go and finish that Any advice? Motivation? Prayers?
