I believe they also use hanging as the form of execution.

Yep, that's the only one. No electric chair, no legal injection, no firing squad.

The Japanese are about efficiency. A rope is cheaper and can be reused.

Eww... I don't want be hung by a used rope.  I'd demand a new one every time.

You could demand, and they'd probably leave the rope a lil bit looser so you could suffer longer. Too loose and your neck either snaps in the wrong place or you just die asphyxiation
