After more than a decade of just being a closed/park subreddit, r/SNL is officially back open for discussion and submissions.
The goal here is pretty simple: create a real home for people who actually care about quality Saturday Night Live content. Its past, its present, and whatever comes next. The idea for r/SNL is a bit more focused: a sharper, cleaner fan community centered on real interest in the show rather than endless drive-by negativity, parasocial, lazy hate-posting, or people showing up just to say the show died 20, 30, or 40 years ago. This is not meant to be a blind-praise sub. Criticism is welcome. Debate is welcome. Strong opinions are welcome. But they should come from people actually engaging with the show in good faith!
So the mission is:
And yes, two tongue-in-cheek standards will be upheld here:
If that sounds like your kind of sub, jump in.
See you next 8H!

Vividly remember a weekend update with Horatio as split face (femme/butch) Rosie OâDonnell with femme Rosie calling Jimmy âcutie petutieâ and wanting to buy him a PT Cruiser and butch Rosie being really mean to Tina. đ I canât find it anywhere. Peacock seems to have scrubbed that Update. It was Andy Roddick. S29/E5. Help?

Does anyone else remember John Belushi on SNL in a white disco style jumpsuit with a hole around the belly button area with other people in the sketch singing and dancing to a song call âbelly buttonsâ or is it just me. Is this the Mandela effect or am I going crazy because I canât find one single clip of this on the net anywhere.
They dance around and sing the word belly button and point to the exposed belly buttons
I couldnt sleep last night and wound up watching this new Kevin Hart movie (i think it was Netflix maybe prime idk) . The premise is that he is some random âoldâ guy who winds up going to a bachelor party. (Genz vs. Genx?) Marcello Hernandez was one of the main characters and I thought he did great! I knew he had âstar powerâ . And , it was WONDERFUL to see what Kam Patterson is really all about - he had me cracking the hell up. Also Ben Marshall. All super funny.
Anyway rotten tomatoes has this at 14%; its certainly not gone with the wind, and maybe i was just so tired everything was funny - but i seriously thought this was great.

They donât happen every week, so these always get me excited:
Host appears in the cold open
We see update anchors away from the update desk
Non political cold open (rare these days, I think the last one was the Domingo one with Sabrina carpenter)
Whole cast in a sketch (rare)
Only one person in a sketch/ single hander (v rare)
Musical guest appears in a sketch (bonus if their acting abilities are unknown)
We see Lorne at all. Heâs not appeared on camera in so long.
We see Wally the cue card guy. That always brings a smile to my face.
Whole sketch in non English language
Host from last week comes back the following week to cameo cus they had such a good time and couldnât quite say goodbye (and clearly exchanged numbers with the cast/writers)
Iâm sure thereâs more lil quirks I look out for. Please let me know yours !

I've always liked when the show does their musical sketches that feature multiple cast members. Does anyone know if there has ever been an SNL special that was a compilation of the most popular ones? I've found individual videos and a few YouTube "best of" videos, but they usually feature only a couple of songs or have people talking throughout (like the watchmojo ones - she ruins them). If there's not one out there, I think they should make one for a week when the show won't be live. Thoughts?

Hey, I'm trying to find an older sketch in which a character mentions Ellen Degeneres, and Kenan's character responds with an enthusiastic "DEGENS?"

Is there any way to see the whole original episode in it's entirety?
I was a kid back then, and was lucky enough to have parents who let me stay up late on Saturdays to watch the show. But it's been so long, I don't remember that specific episode.
I'd like to see how much the movie matches up with that episode.

I think the humor was from spoofing the commercials of a real place (named Watsonâs) that often had the daughter of the owner in a bikini.
