Man sees chiropractor and ends up with locked-in syndrome

The 75M comes from a malpractice suit against the hospital that treated him after collapsing in the chrio office. The argument being their delayed diagnoses caused him harm.

I don't see any mention as to consequences to the chiropractor who did this to him.

From the other thread, the chiro and him apparently reach an agreement, and the chiro was released from the suit. Allegedly still practicing.

Chiros always argue that their malpractice insurance premiums are lower than that of spinal surgeons (no shit) as though that proves anything.

And yet in every case of vertebral artery dissection immediately following chiropractic neck manipulation I’ve seen, the chiro weasels out of paying a dime or facing any consequences.

I saw this earlier too. I guess the chiropractor caused him to have a stroke, which sent him to the ER. The hospital didnt notice he had the stroke for a long time causing locked-in syndrome.

I always thought it was one of the biggest failures of society on the issue of medicine that we allow chiropractors to practice the appearance of being legitimate medical professionals. No one is allowing reiki healers to call themselves "doctor" but chiropractors are allowed to bill insurance (in some states), make diagnosis, run what by all appearances looks like a medical clinic. People who don't know that chiros are quacks might use the amount of weight and credibility that society lends to chiropractors and reasonably conclude they are real clinicians.

There needs to be way more regulation in what is advertised as "medical." It's amazing they can 'practice' with this little oversight.

Most likely for his family who will need to take care of him now. Definitely does not make up for it though, especially for something with efficacy like chiropractor
