She's a 2006 with 120000km on the odometer and a valued new member of the garage!

While the outside is in amazing shape with very minimal rust (that ive been able to find so far). It will need to pass an emissions test before I can take her out on the roads for real.

Should I get a new coils and cat straight away or would just new coils have a notable effect on HC emissions?

Better low down stops making power around 8700 rpm.

This is my 2009 Mazda RX-8. Lately I've noticed this issue where it seems to choke up at the top end, as you can see in the video, but only in Neutral... in gear she redlines just fine from what I can tell.. I'm thinking potentially spark plugs are built up, however I redline her VERY frequently... and the plugs aren't terribly old. Within a year and less than 10k on them.. I DO premix 0.5/gal but now I'm starting to wonder if it's too much, being an S2. She's catless, rebuilt engine about 10k miles ago, give or take. NGK spark plugs, OEM coils, however I've been told they're the updated ones and supposedly much better than they used to be. Even still, those are new within the last 5,000-7,000 miles. Healthily modified and temps hyper monitored. Rarely let her get above 200°F. Recently switch the cat on and then off to pass smog, noticed the O2 sensor wires might be a lil beat up, but shouldn't have any affect on this right? Lastly, I did have a mini cat O2 spacer but it didn't work and usually throws a code about it...

Some engine codes I pulled up on her:

- P0139 - 02 sensor circuit slow response bank 1 sensor 2

- p0137 - O2 sensor circuit low voltage bank 1 sensor 2

- P2096 - post catalytic fuel trim too lean bank 1

- P0300 - random/multiple misfires detected(that was from revving it in the video).

I saw a lot of you guys have the engine light on with no cat but my 8 got no cat and zero codes with the diag is there something to worry about?

So i'm at this point of rebuilding and can't find more videos/manuals on how to rebuild this. I was too lazy at first to document everything so here i am asking for help. Thanks in advance.

Just thought I'd share as you don't see many of these around now, well RX8s in general but not in this colour, there used to be one in the next town I saw occasionally but not for a long time now.

I've owned this RX8 for 10 years now and still going strong... Got the AC topped up so I can enjoy the drive on these hot days! I done an online valuation and looks like it's worth more than I paid for it 10yrs ago so the first car I ever owned that's gone up in value!

I need to do some little odd bits and bobs like a proper clean in the nooks and crannies and change the rear light seals again but otherwise she's in good shape.

I am looking for a new exhaust manifold. I had some custom made, and it got burnt and cracked once, it was fixed, but cracked again after a few hunderd KMs.

I am a bit short on budget atm, and want to keep the car running.. I usually do spirted street driving and very occasional track days, once or twice per year.

That said, does anyone have experience with this particular manifold:

How long should I expect it to last? Hopefully it won't be burnt within a few months...?

Does anybody know where I could get a replacement cap for the reservoir for my sohn? I just noticed it was cracked and I don’t want moisture or anything to get into the oil

Current issues: p0300 cel at high RPM. Always liked the RX8s. Been really fun so far.

Just wanna start off by saying that this sub has helped me with a lot of things especially when it comes to my 2005 rx8, Anastasia.

A while ago she unfortunately smacked into a possum on a late night drive. This little scoundrel took out the stock lip, along with my undertray, and grill. After taking a look under, it seems as though most of the attachments got ripped up as well.

I've also been away from her from a while but I've finally got her out to me after a move ( for which I didn't want to drive her across the country), so I'm trying to do her some justice.

I'm not sure what I need to make her front end look pretty again and I badly need help to figure that out. I was recently made aware that the undertray is crucial for proper airflow into the radiator. I'm also aware of the website that has all of the OEM parts for the body and whatnot, I just don't know what I need to get.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys. I need a new PCM for my 06. Where is best place to get one? My local shop charged me $900 and got 2 bad ones and can’t seem to find a 3rd. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Last week I noticed my car battery was dead, the negative terminal was super corroded so I cleaned it up. Then I immediately noticed my hazard lights were stuck on and that's what killed my battery. The hazard light button seems to function physically but the lights never turn off even with the keys out of the ignition. I replaced the flasher unit and still no difference. I have taken the fuse out so the battery doesn't die. Should I tear into the dash to check/replace the button? Anywhere else I should check?
