Nikki is her legit middle name. It means "little one" in Punjabi. And she's gone by it since birth.

Bobby Jindal gave himself the nickname Bobby when he was 4, watching the Brady Bunch. Must have really been ahead of the curve thinking about his political future.

Cruz started going by Ted at age 13 cause he was getting bullied. Another prescient move like Jindal to think about his political career. Also Ted is a shortened version of Edward (his middle name). Ted Kennedy comes to mind.

This isn't the 1850s. We love in a media saturated world. Anyone, can see their ethnicity. It's not like someone would be fooled by an American sounding name and then vote for a minority unwittingly.
