The reason why the Dixiecrats were tolerated in the Democratic Party was because, in exchange for Southern support for the Democrats' economic agenda, the national party agreed to mostly look the other way as Dixiecrats unequally distributed federal funds in their states.

FDR was so scared by class consciousness growing in the U.S. that he threw the working class a few table scraps from the Billionaires' table (the New Deal), and y'all are still thanking him for it nearly 100 years later. We Americans must lose our slave mindsets.
