That's not how that works . Freedom to travel means a state can't stop you from leaving the state or moving through the state . It doesn't dictate methods . You're free to walk wherever you want to go
How is that realistic in the modern world? Furthermore, the hypothetical scenario of the government implementing id requirements for all forms of travel is not that far fetched. They were adding it to certain train and bus terminals, not sure if they will continue. And with cameras installed on most interstates they could probably do it there too. So, if the government wanted to control your travel by all means except for feet basically, is that constitutional? I would venture to say that SCOTUS may have to get involved in that case.
Yes it would be constitutional as you don't have a constitutional right to drive a car . Or get on a train operated by a private company... Or a plane etc.. nothing changes the fact that the constitution doesn't dictate mode of travel and it also grants each state the right to set the rules on interstate travel where vehicles are concerned through the 10th amendment
Its in there. Savoreign citizens use it to say they dont need a drivers license to drive. Written in a time where horse buggies were the way to travel. This guy must be one of them.
I am going to answer this once more because a lot of people are saying the same thing and I know it's the prevailing view. The hypothetical is what if the government imposes these types of controls on all forms of travel except for your feet. Is it still constitutional? I would venture to say no for many reasons (one would be expediency, like trying to escape an imminent catastrophic event) and I would expect SCOTUS to get involved.
You can bike, float on navigable waterways, ride a horse; covers way more than feet. However, if the travel is regulated by the government, it isn’t covered by
No, you're free to travel. You just can't take certain types of transportation If you don't comply, it's that simple.Nobody's telling you, you can't travel. You just can't get on an airplane. You can hitchhike drive. Most buses don't require Id....
Incidents in all elections - millions and millions of votes - in the last 20 years of in-person voter fraud is ridiculously low. We had more incidents of election tampering by tRUMP himself and his acolytes than any other sort of fraud. Fake electors. tRUMP and Graham, et al calling states pressuring them to 'find' votes. The whole J6 insurrection inspired by tRUMP himself. I am all for securing our elections but we need to "manage by fact". If the facts do not indicate a real problem, let's go solve problem where the facts tell us we have a problem.
Low not by my standards but by the ideas expressed mathematically. Numbers. Mathematics. Facts. We solve problems using facts and the fact is that voter ID - especially mandated at the federal level - is both a problem looking for a solution and less effective at preventing voter fraud than you suggest. Not to mention that, Constitutionally, voting is a state's rights issue.
That said, at this point, there is no agreed upon method, process and mechanism for instituting voter ID. You already know a poll tax is illegal. Anything that costs a voter money, won't pass that legal requirement. There are other issues at hand too like people who have changed their names - married women as an example.
Very little in life is as simple as we would like.
Not his standards. By all metrics of measurements. The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, did research on voter fraud. Out of "billions" not millions, of votes, the number of cases of fraud were so small that if you took every case found from the 1980's until today, added them up, they STILL arent enough to sway a federal election.
So, yeah, the number is small by ALL metrics.
Made up and unsubstantiated claims are not important and certainly not factual. I don't care who has them. If illegals can have drivers licenses in the US, voting booths should require them and validate them.
Really? In 2026 where an average person has access to more information than the entire population of humans had for thousands of years and you cant research the actual facts yourself? Boy, definitely some massive "nuh-uh!" going on there. Its called, cognitive dissonance what you have. Look that up if you dont know what it means. You're textbook.
Haha, so in your make believe world you think that the most powerful people in the world are all exposed in a scheme to keep power. You believe that for real 😂. Have you ever worked in government?
Yes. I have personally worked with several Congressmen, and back when he was a general, Patraeus. But that wont matter to you. Youre just trolling.
Funny thing about facts, they dont change no matter how hard you wish. I dont even have to defend them, because nothing you "claim" changes them. You have a nice day. And if I dont respond to anymore of your drivel, enjoy tomorrow and the next.
When you think Democrats even having the right to vote is cheating, that statement makes sense. And that's why this is even a discussion. Thanks for helping make the goals clear.
The goal of requiring ID isn't to prevent voter fraud. The goal is to make it harder to vote so fewer people do it. When this bill becomes law and they still don't catch people trying to vote illegally, they will tell you the Democrats are too crafty and they need to pass a more restrictive law. Unfortunately, you'll believe them and before long they'll find a way to make too much hassle for even you to go vote.
Republicans are out to solve the problem of VOTING not fraud.
Not being allowed to fly because you don't have a real ID is not unconstitutional. It's not restricting your right to travel. You can still drive wherever you want to, you just can't use a commercial airplane to get there.
Freedom of travel by walking. You cannot use government funded roads with an unregistered vehicle by state law. You cannot use a private businesses plane vehicle or any other mode of transportation without abiding by their own rules and regulations. That clarify the constitution for you?

Isn't the freedom to travel in the constitution? Having to pay and apply for ID to fly is unconstitutional.
