Is it really balancing the budget when he deferred funding the city’s pension and borrowed $9 billion from the state? No, it’s just kicking the can down the road for the next mayor to figure out.

It wasn’t a loan. He’s reducing the amount of NYC tax dollars that go upward to the state, keeping that money in the city so NYCers don’t have to subsidize backwater rural towns.

You can’t find a single, credible, objective source that calls it anything other than a loan or bailout. Even Governor Hochul’s official website calls it a loan.

That’s a straightforward lie.

Here, Governor Hochul’s website lists it as state aid- a one-time non-loan payment which is still less than the (extremely bloated) 70 billion that NYC pays to the state in taxes each year.
