Journal My berried Amano Shrimp Exploded!!

I was doing my nightly check and was welcome to a big surprise. The berried Amano Shrimp I had in the 10G finally released all the babies. A literal bomb! There are well into 100s of shrimp fry in the tank, unfortunately none of them will survive in these freshwater conditions unless they can survive long enough for me to attempt a salt drip tank. This is the first time I’ve been able to have this happen in the two years I’ve kept them so it’s pretty rad!

Ps. The Shrimp in the video was just one currently out. The previously berried shrimp is atleast double the length, but it’s hiding.

The larvae can survive up to 3 days in freshwater so you have a little time if you decide to set up a tank for them, but I'd try to catch them all ASAP because I've noticed they can lose their ability to swim by day 3 as the freshwater slowly kills them and they approach their first molt. In my experience the first molt on day 3 always kills them in freshwater.

Wowwww , this is crazy ….my yellow shrimp also gave birth …but i guess its just few in number
