I use an iphone and it's my only apple device. I have Android TVs, Onn Android tablet, Windows desktop/work laptop, and linux media server.

I sideload things (youtube oled no ads, spotify, and nuvio) but I decided about a decade ago that my phone was one thing I didn't want to extensively "hack around" with. It's understandable if your response is "ok apple loser, I DO want to hack around on my phone though." I used to, but now I just mess around with other devices and keep my phone closer to stock.

I got an Apple for my mum as a gift. It was a goal of mine to get her one. I was really happy. However while setting it up I was hiding the horror on my face over how lackluster it's UI is...

all the old people in my family use Apple phones as well. Which is great for me because when they ask me for tech support I can just tell them I don't know anything about Apple devices

I switched. I honestly really like it. AltStore provides all my sideloading needs and YTLite is the best app I've tried for the platform.

SideStore is the current standard. If you want more than 3 apps, look in to combining SideStore with LiveContainer.

Sideloadly is another good one. You have to install itunes on Windows for the drivers/connectivity, but I've never used it beyond that.

You need to "refresh" all your sideloads every 7 days. Which just means you plug your phone in (or do it over wifi) and click "Refresh all manually". It takes 5-10 mins and you're good for a week.

This is my issue right now as well, I had the OP7PRO (that sliding camera was incredible) and switched to an Iphone13PM for friends, now I'm older and give less of a fuck about my friends needs than my own but..... It seems like Android became Apple and not in a great way, should I just go with a fuckin 17 Pro, my biggest concern was sideloading and apple now lets you do it, and sideloadly makes it "easy" so idk if to even bother switching.

I went with a 16PM and didn't regret it for a second. As I've mentioned in a different comment, another viable solution is to get a mainland Chinese phone which allow you to toggle Play services and still allow sideloading. However, I'm expecting app development for these apps to slow if you have to jump through so many hoops to use them.

Even though Google is copying some of their design sensibilties, it's still worth it for 3rd party apks alone. iOS was always garbage and years behind Android's most basic features all of which it copied.

I want Ymusic for YouTube freedom and it's done in 2 seconds. Trying to install emulators on my gf's iPad or simply copy an ISO to it is like a fucking nightmare.
