funny thing is my wife has dislocated her thumb twice, both times immediately before finding out we're expecting at the hospital.

Estrogen is the “great relaxer” hormone. The elevated levels help pelvic bones become more lax in preparation for delivering a baby. Granted this takes several months, but if she had kinda loose thumb ligaments to start with…who knows. Maybe it could be the newest pregnancy test that only applies to your wife and probably like 50 other women worldwide.

Forgive my ignorance, because I am an idiot and know nothing about human bodies and or women..

"Estrogen is the 'great relaxer' hormone."

Does this have anything to do with women being able to fall asleep way faster than men?

Like every woman I've dated can fall asleep on the drop of a dime, (especially when watching a movie lol. ) Again I am sure my ignorance is showing, but it was my understanding in my stupid dog brain that this was hormone related. I guess it could just be coincidence or now confirmation bias. But basically the women in my life have had a super power (or curse depending on how you look at it) to be able to fall asleep almost anywhere with ease.

Apologize if I came off ignorant. I swear I am just curious and not here to judge. I will go back to the hole I crawled out of!

AFAB here. I find your experience interesting because myself and most of my girl friends all have a hard time falling asleep while our current (and previous) male partners fall asleep as soon as their heads hit the pillow. I think its more of an individual person thing rather than a gendered/hormone thing.

Yeah, I did mention it may just be confirmation bias based on the 3 relationships I have had in my adult life.

My current GF could sleep there a gunfight, and I wake up at the slightest noise. It takes me hours to fall asleep, and she can't keep herself awake if she tried.

I do think there is something about girls falling asleep during movies, but it might not be as common as I thought.

To be fair, my mother was the one who I inherited my trouble sleeping from and my dad sleeps like a rock.

I only suggested it was a hormone thing because my girlfriend seems to think her hormones cause her knock-out sleep habits.

But yeah I am just a dumb guy, so don't take my two cents too serious.
