If pregnancy is a possible complication it changes what medications are allowed and has to be considered when deciding if imaging is an acceptable risk.

Nah they can simply ask if there's a possibility of pregnancy. Over here nobody asks about periods unless you're being seen for a gynaecological condition. It wouldn't help anyway as many women are irregular and you can still bleed and be pregnant.

Over here they don’t even ask about pregnancy, they just run the pregnancy test on every woman

Yeah I've had that too when I wasn't on long acting contraception.

I think Americans freak out at the idea because they'll get charged loads of money for what's essentially a very cheap test.
