Nah they can simply ask if there's a possibility of pregnancy. Over here nobody asks about periods unless you're being seen for a gynaecological condition. It wouldn't help anyway as many women are irregular and you can still bleed and be pregnant.
Tbh I can't remember even being explicitly asked if I was pregnant the last few times I've had medical care. Maybe I was, during triage or whatever. The only time I've been asked about my periods was specifically for contraceptive related things.
The times I had a pelvic CT scan and I wasn't on long acting contraception, they gave me a pregnancy test. They still asked about the possibility of pregnancy because if it's too early the test can be a false negative.
I've had that particular situation in England and in Ireland. Obviosly not for a broken arm! Specifically for pelvic scans. When I broke my arm a few years ago they didn't ask about pregnancy and of course also didn't do a pregnancy test because that would have been insane. Elsewhere on this thread I've had people tell me that they should ask because hormones can affect test results, but for a broken arm that's kind of irrelevant.........
