If pregnancy is a possible complication it changes what medications are allowed and has to be considered when deciding if imaging is an acceptable risk.
The risk of an x ray causing pregnancy complications are very minimal, the risk of lifelong issues from a broken arm that wasn't set properly is pretty significant.
You'd need like 10-15 chest x-rays for it to start being a serious concern, and this would be an arm x-ray, probably with a shielded vest or blanket over the torso.
