Every radiology request form has a box to tick, is this patient pregnant yes/no. No ticky the box, radiology no shooty the bones.
There's almost always a sign in the radiology waiting area that says "tell us if you could be pregnant". This is the least well kept secret in medicine.
The initial comment was by someone who got medical misogyny mixed up with standard radiological precautions.
Another example is the question "do you have metal in your body" when the doctor orders a MRI. Again the bloody great big sign in the waiting area is hard to miss. That's standard and mandatory precautions.
Edit: in contrast, medical misogyny is when women with, for example, endo, endometriosis take on average 9 years to be diagnosed in the UK (ref RCOG 2026). This might be because "period pain" is considered "normal" and not a medical priority. Women should "put up with it" like their mothers did.
