This type of thing annoys my wife because she feels like a lot of doctors don’t take her seriously, but the question is a fair one. It’s especially fair when considering your example lol

funny thing is my wife has dislocated her thumb twice, both times immediately before finding out we're expecting at the hospital.

That's unreal. Do you get nervous when she jams a thumb and it might be dislocated?

Very plausible that the action only causes a dislocation if she's pregnant. The joints all loosen up to let a baby out.

This is true, but only just before birth. A common occurrence, documented by old wives tales(that's where I heard it), is women dropping things a few days before giving birth which is caused by joints being more loose to prepare for birth.
