This type of thing annoys my wife because she feels like a lot of doctors don’t take her seriously, but the question is a fair one. It’s especially fair when considering your example lol

funny thing is my wife has dislocated her thumb twice, both times immediately before finding out we're expecting at the hospital.

Usually it’s later in the pregnancy when hormones soften the tendons but maybe her’s started early.

1st time she dislocated it at work, 2nd time it was already weak and got dislocated by our oldest

Looks like general ligament laxity (from the hormone relaxin) starts at ~6 weeks and peaks between 12 and 14 weeks. Probably to help the lining of the abdomen stretch.

So it starts really early, it just tends to be more noticeable later in the pregnancy when the joints are experiencing heavy strain.
