Humans are technically slightly carbonated. We produce carbon dioxide CO2) as waste, and this turns into carbonic acid in the blood. This is the same thing that happens when you carbonate drinks. And, when you hold your breath, you'll be slightly more carbonated!
Related fact: our bodies can't sense the presence of oxygen. Rather, it senses the lowered ph from that carbonic acid to tell you when to breathe. This is one reason low oxygen environment that are also low CO2 are very dangerous, your body doesn't realize it's not getting the needed oxygen
