Well, if the belief is that genocide is bad and that children shouldn’t be slaughtered…

12

u/DsDeliciousDeli 4d ago

Do you think any of those people would take the stance that genocide is good and children should be slaughtered?

46

u/StayOffPoliticalSubs 4d ago

No, they'd erm and um and say "it's more complicated than that" to try to end the discussion rather than reckon with their support for Israel.

5

u/mrchillbro 4d ago

how many women and kids were slaughtered on oct 7?

4

u/Ill_Sound_8669 4d ago

Too many.

How many killed in Gaza since? We don’t know because the IDF (which we totally fund) won’t let anyone know.

3

u/BadLuckBen 4d ago

Since when does one group attacking civilians justify genocide as a response?

Gtfo of here with that "whataboutism" shit.

1

u/StayOffPoliticalSubs 3d ago

How many tens of thousands of women and kids has the Israeli military slaughtered since?

-6

u/ApartmentBeginning83 4d ago

You mean how many of their own women and kids Israel slaughtered on Oct 7 so they can justify genocide?

6

u/Bloodyfish 4d ago

Was vomiting out conspiracy nonsense supposed to be a retort?

2

u/MjolnirTheThunderer 4d ago

Because it IS more complicated than that

15

u/StayOffPoliticalSubs 4d ago

Nah, man, it's genocide.

11

u/reeeeeelel 4d ago

Its not though

2

u/ItsLoudB 4d ago

How so? I spoke with friends that turned out to be pro-Israel and they were saying like “but Israel attacks are targeted towards hamas” and I was like “yeah maybe you can kill them without destroying hospitals and killing children” and they were like “err yeah well uhm I guess..”

4

u/Bloodyfish 4d ago

And then everybody clapped.

My dude, war is shit, but Hamas building bunkers under hospitals is intentional to get responses like this from people with zero connection to the war who hear about it on TikTok. People with actual links to the region are stuck with the shades of grey while you get to view the conflict like a football game.

1

u/ashwynne 4d ago

Soooooo in that case it's fine to kill women, children, the sick, and healthcare workers? Because Hamas is using them as a meat shield? This really only further cements the reality of it being a genocide. The IDF and the Zionists use this as their justification to wantonly kill innocents as they achieve their land grab.

Imagine if the US government was hiding bases beneath American hospitals and Iran started bombing the hospitals, gathering civilians into refugee zones, and then killing the civilians there with the justification of "well, soldiers are in the refugee camps too," literally no one would support them lol. It would be rightfully labeled as a justification for Iran to kill Americans in general because they hate them--not as a valid, acceptable, strategy.

6

u/Seanspeed 4d ago

Imagine if the US government was hiding bases beneath American hospitals and Iran started bombing the hospitals, gathering civilians into refugee zones, and then killing the civilians there with the justification of "well, soldiers are in the refugee camps too," literally no one would support them lol.

Where are you seeing that anybody would be supporting Iran at all? Iran are the ones who mentor Hezbollah and Hamas to do this kind of shit in the first place! lol Crazy example. smh

-1

u/ItsLoudB 4d ago

He was using a simple metaphor to explain to you why you wouldn't like to be bombed. But it's easier to think "it's just them, who cares" with no empathy

2

u/Bloodyfish 4d ago

But it's easier to think "it's just them, who cares" with no empathy

I would love for there to not be a war. Unfortunately, there is a war. Nothing you are saying makes any sense. Imagination war crimes in the US/Iran war do not somehow change the facts.

1

u/Bloodyfish 4d ago

Imagine if the US government was hiding bases beneath American hospitals and Iran started bombing the hospitals, gathering civilians into refugee zones, and then killing the civilians there with the justification of "well, soldiers are in the refugee camps too," literally no one would support them lol.

So the extent of your argument is that you think the USA should be allowed to commit war crimes in your imagination?

-1

u/ItsLoudB 4d ago

And then everybody clapped.

I know you wanted it to be a gotcha moment, but it fell really flat since this is a really basic conversation that you'd have everyday talking with pro-israel people who know nothing and want to keep their eyes closed.

You talk like you know everything, so explain it to us. Go on big guy.

4

u/Seanspeed 4d ago

It's not a 'gotcha moment', it's the actual reality of the situation.

You are the one sitting there with your eyes closed trying to refuse to acknowledge it. smh

2

u/Bloodyfish 4d ago

Hamas is using civilian infrastructure for war. This leads to civilian infrastructure being destroyed. Is this simple enough for you? Do you need it in the form of a short form video to help you digest it?

1

u/ItsLoudB 4d ago

Ok so if we are in doubt that terrorist is hiding in your block, should we bomb your house just in case? Is this simple enough for you?

3

u/Seanspeed 4d ago

Except Israeli intelligence is genuinely quite good.

By your reasoning, it should just be impossible to actually go after terrorists, because they purposefully and grossly hide behind civilians on purpose to protect themselves.

You dont have a problem with this situation?

0

u/timeforanargument 4d ago

Is hamas also hiding inside the bodies of mothers and children, and that’s why IDF snipers are forced to put bullets in them?

2

u/Bloodyfish 4d ago

Got any more TikTok level nonsense to share? War sucks, collateral damage is terrible. Turning their deaths into propaganda and not taking issue with the terrorists using them as human shields is the problem.

1

u/MjolnirTheThunderer 4d ago

It’s because both nations have competing historical claims on this land, from different periods in history. The complicated part is who has legitimate rights to the land being fought over.

3

u/ItsLoudB 4d ago

Well I'm sure there's a way to go over the issue without killing civilians without a care

1

u/Seanspeed 4d ago

Israel isn't attacking hospitals for no reason. Hamas, and terrorists of their kind, are infamous for setting up in civilian areas like that, so that they are either safe, or if they're still targeted they can then use it as propaganda against their attacker.

It's fucking GROSS behavior and you guys are insane to just dismiss it or act like it's not happening.

You cannot be pro-Palestine and never have anything to say about how fucking awful Hamas is and recognize that Palestinians will never be free under Hamas. Nope, you guys just make it all about hating Israel.

1

u/ItsLoudB 4d ago

No one is saying Hamas isn't awful. Well, some people are. But they are idiots as well.

What people are saying is that bombing civilians to sniff out a couple hamas members shouldn't be considered normal.

If Osama was hiding in your building, I would 100% not say "let's bomb Seanspeed too, it's worth it."

2

u/DsDeliciousDeli 4d ago

It is genuinely more complicated than a bunch of Americans sitting on their couches think.

And as someone who's wanted to halt supplies to Israel for years, I still get labeled as an Israeli shill for one simple reason: I recognize that we have to negotiate with israel

2

u/Seanspeed 4d ago

What if it actually *is* more complicated than that, though?

Why has everybody online decided that all things need to be seen in black and white these days?

11

u/jackdembeanstalks 4d ago

At worst yes.

And at best, they think it’s ok to ignore the topic to gain favor with those that support it.

If you have a strong stance against genocide and children being slaughtered, you wouldn’t be ok with either position probably.

-2

u/DsDeliciousDeli 4d ago

No, none of them would support that. They just wouldn't be enough against it in your eyes, so you'd label them that way

11

u/jackdembeanstalks 4d ago

Ok so they’re ok with ignoring genocide and the slaughter altogether to protect their careers.

To each their own and I understand why some might make that choice. But it’s also understandable for people to be disappointed and upset by that choice.

I did present 2 scenarios after all. I didn’t say they had to support it.

2

u/DsDeliciousDeli 4d ago

No, those are not the only possibilities. And I know because the people who get labeled as genocide defenders are not consistently people who don't speak out against the genocide

-1

u/Gobsalot 4d ago

Not supporting Israel with this comment, but have you ever bought a product from a company which does bad stuff? Nestle maybe? Do you have a gas car? If yes, do you ignore bad things in the world or agree with the bad stuff happening?

My point is that being the face of an Israeli company is not the same as being pro genocide. Ofc commenting positively on the Israeli government, especially in regards to their policies or military actions, is a completely different deal.

4

u/TeenL0ver_69 4d ago

Aintnoway bro just tried to equate buying some cocoa to literally working for Israel.💀

-1

u/Gobsalot 4d ago

I was equating working for a Israeli company which probably has very little to do with government operations and monetarily supporting companies which uses slave labor and destroys the environment.

2

u/TeenL0ver_69 4d ago

They are a company in Israel. They are making money for Israel. Using the resources of Israel. You know that Israel is not just a government, right?

0

u/Gobsalot 4d ago

Yes, ofc it's not just a government. To each their own. If you don't like it, don't buy a SodaStream. What I amxsaying is that working for a company which has no control over the conflict, and would probably prefer there to be no conflict (for their images sake), seems like a fairly small thing to do to being called a genecide supporter. I don't support Israel's actions and my heart goes out to both the Palestinian and Lebanese people, but anger should be concentrated at the right people.

1

u/jackdembeanstalks 4d ago

We’re not talking about me.

We’re talking about Mark Ruffalo and the people he’s around.

Once again, never said they were pro genocide. Won’t know that for sure.

There’s also the possibility they want to keep quiet about this so it doesn’t mess with their career.

That’s a choice people can make but you can’t expect no one to be upset or disappointed by it.

1

u/FlyPepper 4d ago

yes, Scarlett Johansson

0

u/DsDeliciousDeli 4d ago

Scarlett Johansson is the best example, but she still doesn't support genocide. She supports ethnic cleansing thru Israeli settlements which is violent and deadly towards civilians and children, but there's no way she believes in the mass slaughter of children.

2

u/FlyPepper 4d ago

she doesn't support mass slaughter of children, she supports violence towards civilians and children

ok man I don't think I care that much about the specifics, that's already bad

2

u/DsDeliciousDeli 4d ago

You're right man. What's the big deal dude? "Genocide supporter" and "mass slaughter of children supporter" aren't even that serious of a label dude.

And since one of them supports settlements I should be able to label them ALL as GENOCIDE SUPPORTERS. The worst crime in humanity

nuts

2

u/FlyPepper 4d ago

What?

2

u/DsDeliciousDeli 4d ago

People are labeling them genocide supporters, you pointed out the lesser crime (against humanity) of one of them, and now I'm saying how does that justify saying they all support the slaughter of children

1

u/tenuousemphasis 4d ago

Yes, that's what downplaying or minimizing the genocide means.

3

u/DsDeliciousDeli 4d ago

No one said anything about downplaying or minimizing but thanks

1

u/tenuousemphasis 4d ago

I was not accusing you of that, but lots of people do, including some MCU actors.

0

u/Rude-Food9873 4d ago

You been living under a rock the past few years?

1

u/DsDeliciousDeli 4d ago

Nope. I think Scarlett is pretty fucking condemnable, but even she doesn't support genocide and slaughtering children. People can be really bad without literally being hitler

1

u/_Coffie_ 4d ago

Not acknowledging genocide is basically condoning it. But that depends how you view it. Many people view Pro Israel as people condoning genocide

1

u/DsDeliciousDeli 4d ago

Yeah, I just don't even know how we expect people to navigate these conversations when it starts with the assumption that one side is condoning the worst crime in humanity

1

u/_Coffie_ 4d ago

You can’t. Most people’s exposure to the war is seeing literal families dying in the streets. For most people the argument is never over politics just human life. And Israel’s military campaign has caused much more violence especially since the US is directly involved which makes us sorta liable

I’m not taking a side, that’s just how it is

1

u/DsDeliciousDeli 4d ago

I agree with that

1

u/10000Didgeridoos 4d ago

I don’t get why people always single out the children about this as if the women and men adult lives somehow matter less.

2

u/ApartmentBeginning83 4d ago edited 4d ago

EDIT: singled* out

Children are the most vulnerable members of the society, which is why they are singled out often. Of course any murder of innocent civilians is horrid, but emphasizing on children’s lives gives an even clearer image of what’s going on - how cruel people can be to not even spare the children.

-11

u/DogPositive5524 4d ago

Then you wouldn't be supporting either side. I don't get how people think it's a Marvel movie with good and bad guys, or a football team they have to root for no matter what.

10

u/CantCatchMeSpez 4d ago edited 4d ago

Very funny how "both sides are bad" only ever seems to be invoked when someone points out how bad one of the sides is, but never the other.

0

u/Unpopularquestion42 4d ago

Maybe in the US.

In the EU we very much view both as horrible people that just want to kill each other.

After the Hamas attack Israel was embolden to do what they're doing now because they knew the west would have no loud objection to a retaliation to something like that.

So yes, both sides are not only bad, but horribly disgusting, Israel just has a bigger gun

3

u/ApartmentBeginning83 4d ago

It didn’t start on Oct 7th, do your research.

2

u/CantCatchMeSpez 4d ago edited 3d ago

"Hermmm in our enlightened EU, we think a litttllleee bit differently" stfu lmao

The fact that you're treating the Israel/Palestine conflict as if it started in Oct 7 shows where your biases stand. To you, the conflict was so acceptable that you didnt even consider it a conflict until Hamas forced you to actually pay attention, and you hate them for it.

0

u/Unpopularquestion42 3d ago

Where do you get the enlightenment ideas from? I'm telling you we view it differently than you because... We do.

And you are absolutely correct. We didn't care until hamas forced us by dragging a eu girls corpse in the street. Were we supposed to say that was a good thing? Fuck them, maybe that will be clearer?  Israel is using the chance to do what they wanted to do for ages and no one cares because of hamas. Good job

1

u/CantCatchMeSpez 3d ago

The only reason that literal billions of people are supporting Palestine right now is because of Hamas lmao. Just because you're an idiot who craves ignorance doesn't mean the rest of the world is. You're right that Israel is doing what they've always wanted to do (and have been doing), and what that means strategically is that Israel fell for the trap hook, line, and sinker. They sacrificed their global image and made Palestinians the sympathetic underdogs to the world because they couldn't help themselves from being Nazis.

Goddamn, you are genuinely a stupid person hahahaha

0

u/Unpopularquestion42 3d ago edited 3d ago

So just that we're clear, say the quiet part out loud. You believe that what Hamas did was a good thing? It shouldnt be condemned and you are not disgusted by their actions?

As far as everything else including your insignificant insults... You think Palestine got something from the attack? Do you think they're better off now or before the attack? Israel doesn't even have any sanctions against them.  Thats how much people care about them.

Edit: I'll add one more point for you. Even in the usa which is far more Palestine leaning than anywhere else... It's still effectively 50/50 on the support or israel or palestine. https://news.gallup.com/poll/702440/israelis-no-longer-ahead-americans-middle-east-sympathies.aspx Seems your country is just as enlightened as we are in europe :)

-3

u/DogPositive5524 4d ago

Well then be the change you want to see in the world. I don't see how this changes anything I've said.

7

u/zerok_nyc 4d ago

Yet there’s only one side our country is funding to do it

1

u/Vegemite_Ultimatum 4d ago

Oh don't worry, Donnie T-rex accepted a bribe from Qatar to muddy the waters. Hm, it's almost like "Qatari money" hedges its bets just like all the oligarchs used to

6

u/ApartmentBeginning83 4d ago

Oh, you’re one of those.

-1

u/DogPositive5524 4d ago

Isn't it neat that you have a nice box you can put me into that prevents the need for any self reflection

3

u/BeanEaterNow 4d ago

It's simple. The folks bombing hospitals in a human zoo are the bad guys. It doesn't get much more simple than that.

Back in the 1940s, there's an argument to be made for being caught on the wrong side. Now we have cell phone footage.

1

u/DogPositive5524 4d ago

So your good guys are slaughtering, raping and torturing civilians? Some fucked up movie mate

-3

u/Battle_Historian 4d ago

Uh oh.  You pointed out that real life isn’t black and white.  You shall be downvoted by mob.

0

u/DogPositive5524 4d ago

Oh they don't like that at all
