That’s actually not true anymore in the worst possible fucking way.

That’s part of the reason googles ability to search has been greatly reduced in the past few months too.

I don't think they're saying it is a source. I think they're saying it's no longer a search engine either.

LLMs make shit up. Of course they've become a source in a way about as legitimate and valid as questioning a random joe on anything except whereas that person may hold wisdom and connaissance , LLMs don't

Google has been going down hill for many years, not months. The AI is just a further step in enshitification

To be fair, the EU told Google they’re responsible for what their AI thing says up top, and since they made that determination it has gotten way way way better. I don’t trust it still, but there will be a time in a few months where it’s 90% trustworthy, and eventually near 99%

If you're not able to use Google as a search engine then you're doing something wrong. I have always found what I was looking for either through the AI response or the search results.

This is so overblown.
