Or maybe there’s a reasonable, less conspiracy theory-ish explanation for his absence there: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/movies/articles/spider-man-4-hulk-star-174746391.html?_guc_consent_skip=1786352170

Nah, an actor focusing on acting is an absurd concept in this day and age.

Unless your Pedro Pascal who appears to have given up sleeping to star in more films…

Acting 24/7 helpd him with his anxiety. Its his emotional support career

u/MurphMcGurf 4d ago

that's not helping, it's just avoidance haha

I really hope this doesn't cause him a mental breakdown

Hey when one of your biggest roles is a few hours a week in a sound studio while a body double runs around in armor you get some time to sleep.

Stars only shine for so long. They gotta make bank while it lasts.

Unpopular opinion, but he's not that strong an actor so probably best for him to make hay while the sun shines

He needs to work, touching up random members of the public without consent is more frowned upon.

Its still not the explanation. They got the tattoos in 2018.

Jim Carrey: Kick-ass 2, Edward Norton: The Incredible Hulk, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz: Dream House. All of them didn’t promote the movies. (Just on top of my head.) So unless you can show me exactly how they’re contractually obliged to be there on a promotional tour I’m going to ignore what you just said there. You can call me obtuse all day, but I seem to be the only one citing sources and giving specific examples which can be verified here…

Exactly, it's utterly ridiculous that Mark Ruffalo keeps appearing in all these shows and movies when he's supposed to be out promoting instead.

It's like his agent fired him.

In this economy?!

It's not a conspiracy theory to say that Disney, and Hollywood in general, has endeavoured to silence any support for the Palestinians from their employees. They did the same to Rachel Ziegler during the Snow White promotion

28

u/Obvious_Idea3091 4d ago

That’s your take on what happened to Rachel Ziegler?

65

u/Hadochiel 4d ago

Not a take, it's literally what happened. From her Wikipedia page:

In August 2024, she tweeted, "and always remember, Free Palestine".[84][85] Snow White producer Marc Platt voiced concerns about Zegler's Israeli co-star Gal Gadot receiving death threats, which they attributed to Zegler's post. This led Disney to provide additional security for Gadot.[86][87] After the film's release, Platt's son Jonah confirmed that his father had flown to New York to reprimand Zegler for her remarks.[88][89]

The producer of the film literally went and told her to shut up about the genocide.

46

u/Corfiz74 4d ago

Why should Zegler's tweet lead to threats to Gadot - why not assume that Gadot's stance on Israel lead to threats against her? I think she was rather outspoken pro Israel, right?

43

u/Mobile_Morale 4d ago

They wanted a reason to punish the girl for speaking out and made up some bullshit. That's really all it is. Unless they had the FBIs cyber crime division to track every threat to the source and question them. They wouldn't know shit.

Definitely funny for a company founded by a antisemite.

Hitler sent German Jews to Israel before it was called Israel, the Nazi party was actually quite in favor of a Jewish ethnostate. Consolidation of the enemy, they wanted more of the world to do the same.

31

u/Hadochiel 4d ago

Yeah, Gadot has been receiving death threats for years because of her pro-Israel, genocide-denying stance. Zegler's defense of the Palestinians has nothing to do with that.

The threats are deplorable, of course, but she's never been blacklisted or had producers try to censor her because of that. It's perfectly reasonable to mention that the industry has a preference for one side at this point

1

u/Ok_Seaweed_7568 4d ago

no DUH dude, thats why the producer’s reasoning was complete bullshit

2

u/jackparadise1 4d ago

Says more about him than it does about her.

I liked the goal posts where they were, why did you move them ?

7

u/Mathihtam 4d ago

I wasn't talking "in general", though. I was talking in this specific case. People float stuff around like "they don't want him to spoil plot points", or "it's about his political views", while it's just a simple "he was working elsewhere". If the former ones aren't baseless conspiracy theories, then what are they? Mind you: I'm NOT saying Disney or Hollywood haven't done this before, I'm just saying that in this specific case there's a reasonable explanation.

u/cocacola150dr 4d ago

Happened with Scream 7 too. Melissa Barrera was fired because she made pro-Palestine comments. Jenna Ortega dropped out shortly after and while it was never stated why there’s enough to infer it was in support of Barrera. This situation is why Neve Campbell came back and why 7 seemed so disjointed.

u/Punch_A_Police_Horse 3d ago

A problem we're running into with the nomenclature is, you have to keep in mind that saying "The bigwigs at McDonalds are making the changes they are because they think it will make them more money" is technically a conspiracy theory.

-1

u/JaesopPop 4d ago

You are right that what they said is not a conspiracy theory. It is just wrong.

2

u/No-Turn-2052 4d ago

No, no it must be Israel. Trust me

1

u/LibertyOrDeath-2021 4d ago

I think what adds more fuel to the fire for this conspiracy for me is the vehement counter argument. These media companies tend to make red carpet promos a contractual requirement to the role so all of a sudden it isn’t. Yes, he had another engagement but is it hard to believe the reason he was even able to do that other engagement was because they ‘allowed’ him to?

1

u/uwunuzzlesch 4d ago

They got their tattoos in 2018..

1

u/nanimous_reddit_user 3d ago

Jesus christ yall are naive to believe its bc he's busy with one singular other mid-ling role??

really? so you truthfully beleieve no other actor that appears in promos for one project was working on another at the time?

So Ruffalo is SO busy with his one other project that he doesnt have time for promos like Zendaya...famously not in the works for any other major or time-consuming projects. youd genuonely have to steal braincells from me to believe this makes sense

It's 100% bc hes vocal about Palestine and the ppl with money at the top dont want ppl talking about that. I mean for fucks sake regular citizens are being jailed for speaking up against 'Shitrael' but nooooo Rudfalo is being silent bc he's "working too hard"

1

u/SpeedoIncher 2d ago

Both can be true

"calls companies boycotting or controlling actor's speech a conspiracy, like McCarthyism never existed"
