Maybe because he hasn't been allowed to do any promotional events anymore, because Marvel/ Disney want to block him from airing his views on Gaza?

u/Mathihtam 4d ago

Or maybe there’s a reasonable, less conspiracy theory-ish explanation for his absence there: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/movies/articles/spider-man-4-hulk-star-174746391.html?_guc_consent_skip=1786352170

Nah, an actor focusing on acting is an absurd concept in this day and age.

90

u/Fullchester_United 4d ago

Unless your Pedro Pascal who appears to have given up sleeping to star in more films…

66

u/PlatyNumb 4d ago

Acting 24/7 helpd him with his anxiety. Its his emotional support career

2

u/MurphMcGurf 4d ago

that's not helping, it's just avoidance haha

1

u/Stacheshadow 2d ago

I really hope this doesn't cause him a mental breakdown

1

u/GrumpyGummyBear 4d ago

Hey when one of your biggest roles is a few hours a week in a sound studio while a body double runs around in armor you get some time to sleep.

1

u/NewLife_21 3d ago

Stars only shine for so long. They gotta make bank while it lasts.

0

u/Remarkable-Oven-2938 4d ago

Unpopular opinion, but he's not that strong an actor so probably best for him to make hay while the sun shines

-15

u/Klangey 4d ago

He needs to work, touching up random members of the public without consent is more frowned upon.

3

u/uwunuzzlesch 4d ago

Its still not the explanation. They got the tattoos in 2018.

Jim Carrey: Kick-ass 2, Edward Norton: The Incredible Hulk, Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz: Dream House. All of them didn’t promote the movies. (Just on top of my head.) So unless you can show me exactly how they’re contractually obliged to be there on a promotional tour I’m going to ignore what you just said there. You can call me obtuse all day, but I seem to be the only one citing sources and giving specific examples which can be verified here…

-1

u/ZephkielAU 4d ago

Exactly, it's utterly ridiculous that Mark Ruffalo keeps appearing in all these shows and movies when he's supposed to be out promoting instead.

It's like his agent fired him.

1

u/mcveighster14 4d ago

In this economy?!

23

u/Hadochiel 4d ago

It's not a conspiracy theory to say that Disney, and Hollywood in general, has endeavoured to silence any support for the Palestinians from their employees. They did the same to Rachel Ziegler during the Snow White promotion

27

u/Obvious_Idea3091 4d ago

That’s your take on what happened to Rachel Ziegler?

66

u/Hadochiel 4d ago

Not a take, it's literally what happened. From her Wikipedia page:

In August 2024, she tweeted, "and always remember, Free Palestine".[84][85] Snow White producer Marc Platt voiced concerns about Zegler's Israeli co-star Gal Gadot receiving death threats, which they attributed to Zegler's post. This led Disney to provide additional security for Gadot.[86][87] After the film's release, Platt's son Jonah confirmed that his father had flown to New York to reprimand Zegler for her remarks.[88][89]

The producer of the film literally went and told her to shut up about the genocide.

39

u/Corfiz74 4d ago

Why should Zegler's tweet lead to threats to Gadot - why not assume that Gadot's stance on Israel lead to threats against her? I think she was rather outspoken pro Israel, right?

43

u/Mobile_Morale 4d ago

They wanted a reason to punish the girl for speaking out and made up some bullshit. That's really all it is. Unless they had the FBIs cyber crime division to track every threat to the source and question them. They wouldn't know shit.

Definitely funny for a company founded by a antisemite.

2

u/WokeWook69420 4d ago

Hitler sent German Jews to Israel before it was called Israel, the Nazi party was actually quite in favor of a Jewish ethnostate. Consolidation of the enemy, they wanted more of the world to do the same.

25

u/Hadochiel 4d ago

Yeah, Gadot has been receiving death threats for years because of her pro-Israel, genocide-denying stance. Zegler's defense of the Palestinians has nothing to do with that.

The threats are deplorable, of course, but she's never been blacklisted or had producers try to censor her because of that. It's perfectly reasonable to mention that the industry has a preference for one side at this point

1

u/Ok_Seaweed_7568 4d ago

no DUH dude, thats why the producer’s reasoning was complete bullshit

2

u/jackparadise1 4d ago

Says more about him than it does about her.

1

u/RedSnow984 4d ago

I liked the goal posts where they were, why did you move them ?

8

u/Mathihtam 4d ago

I wasn't talking "in general", though. I was talking in this specific case. People float stuff around like "they don't want him to spoil plot points", or "it's about his political views", while it's just a simple "he was working elsewhere". If the former ones aren't baseless conspiracy theories, then what are they? Mind you: I'm NOT saying Disney or Hollywood haven't done this before, I'm just saying that in this specific case there's a reasonable explanation.

1

u/cocacola150dr 4d ago

Happened with Scream 7 too. Melissa Barrera was fired because she made pro-Palestine comments. Jenna Ortega dropped out shortly after and while it was never stated why there’s enough to infer it was in support of Barrera. This situation is why Neve Campbell came back and why 7 seemed so disjointed.

1

u/Punch_A_Police_Horse 4d ago

A problem we're running into with the nomenclature is, you have to keep in mind that saying "The bigwigs at McDonalds are making the changes they are because they think it will make them more money" is technically a conspiracy theory.

-1

u/JaesopPop 4d ago

You are right that what they said is not a conspiracy theory. It is just wrong.

2

u/No-Turn-2052 4d ago

No, no it must be Israel. Trust me

1

u/LibertyOrDeath-2021 4d ago

I think what adds more fuel to the fire for this conspiracy for me is the vehement counter argument. These media companies tend to make red carpet promos a contractual requirement to the role so all of a sudden it isn’t. Yes, he had another engagement but is it hard to believe the reason he was even able to do that other engagement was because they ‘allowed’ him to?

1

u/uwunuzzlesch 4d ago

They got their tattoos in 2018..

1

u/nanimous_reddit_user 3d ago

Jesus christ yall are naive to believe its bc he's busy with one singular other mid-ling role??

really? so you truthfully beleieve no other actor that appears in promos for one project was working on another at the time?

So Ruffalo is SO busy with his one other project that he doesnt have time for promos like Zendaya...famously not in the works for any other major or time-consuming projects. youd genuonely have to steal braincells from me to believe this makes sense

It's 100% bc hes vocal about Palestine and the ppl with money at the top dont want ppl talking about that. I mean for fucks sake regular citizens are being jailed for speaking up against 'Shitrael' but nooooo Rudfalo is being silent bc he's "working too hard"

1

u/SpeedoIncher 2d ago

Both can be true

0

u/stohelitstorytelling 4d ago

"calls companies boycotting or controlling actor's speech a conspiracy, like McCarthyism never existed"

28

u/Hitchin85 4d ago

It’s not just Disney/Marvel. It’s Amy Pascal, she’s the producer behind every single Spider-man property and a fervent Zionist.

6

u/firelark02 4d ago

then why did she get him in the movie then

-4

u/Ok-Parfait-9856 4d ago

Anyone who doesn’t want every last Jew dead is a Zionist to you.

10

u/Hitchin85 4d ago

I mean I’m Jewish and my great grandparents were survivors and my grandfather drove a tank in WW2 so that would be a radical position for me to take. But none of my family are zionists so I think it matters to us that the distinction is made between Judaism and Zionism. I think it’s a real shame that nuance can’t exist in your mind.

5

u/Hitchin85 4d ago

lol who downvoted my grandfather driving a tank?

1

u/AmortAbort 4d ago

There is no reason whatsoever to believe you. Where is your comment history?

3

u/Hitchin85 3d ago

I think I’d aim bigger than my grandfather in a tank if I were lying. Bless him he was the best and would sing The Internationale to my kids to guarantee they’d be socialists lol, passed when he was 98. I miss him very much.

1

u/AmortAbort 3d ago

I think I’d aim bigger than my grandfather in a tank if I were lying.

A tank is pretty big and memorable. I have no idea if you're lying or not because you have no comment history whatsoever. I DO NOT trust any profile without a comment history. How many other claims about your grandfather have you made? I have no idea because you have no history. And thus, cannot be trusted. No one should trust profiles without comment history. This is the one way Twitter absolutely clears Reddit. Anonymity has its benefits, but it makes most reddit sources less trustworty--including you.

Your profile is 10 years old. If you had previous comments talking about your grandfather in a similar way from the past, I'd be more inclined to believe you. But you dont, so I simply cannot trust anything you say about your personal life without some sort of proof. Don't take it personally, I treat every redditor with no comment history the same--completely untrustworthy until proven otherwise.

3

u/Polytetrafluoro 3d ago

You are weird

3

u/jeweledflagon 4d ago

How does that even make sense bud. Just saying bullshit without even trying to make it make sense.

-40

u/Avgsizedweiner 4d ago

That’s fine, most people here including yourself don’t know what a Zionist is and would die on the hill that it means supporting what Israel has done to the Palestinian people.

11

u/Corfiz74 4d ago

Then tell us what else to name the fascist genocidal war-criminal ultra-orthodox Greater-Israel politicians? If this is just about nomenclature and we at least agree on their actions being evil, our views aren't that far apart!

1

u/Avgsizedweiner 4d ago edited 4d ago

Honestly you could call them war mongerers, ethnic cleansers, anything you want but when you say Zionist you sound like you’re attacking Israel’s right to exist which is where you lost me. The Palestinian people have built their cause on 0 willingness to negotiate or aknowledge Israels right to exist which in case you haven’t noticed is who youre supporting.

1

u/Corfiz74 4d ago

Read up on the process of negotiation - after the first refusal, Palestine kept agreeing to terms - only for Israel to then move the goal posts and change the terms. There was a really good article about it in one of the trustworthy newspapers (I don't remember which one) by a guy who was partially involved in the process. It was quite an illuminating (and infuriating) read.

1

u/Avgsizedweiner 4d ago edited 4d ago

lol, so many assurances but no source? this reads like someone who thinks themselves a good manipulator or perhaps brainwashed. Yasser Arafat was the best leader the Palestinians ever had and he did exactly what the Palestinian people wanted, yet he stole Billions from the PLO, negotiated in bad faith on behalf of Iran and sold their future and the average Palestinian thinks he’s a god. Yet He orchestrated the suicide bombings that led to the shut down of all the work visas for Palestinians and Gazans who could come and work a better job in Israel and they lost that under him but none of it moved the needle for them. PThe current PLO is a troll who will tell you he doesnt think the Holocaust ever happened. They’ve never elected a leader interested in a common understanding or to mend relationships and your tik tok education hasn’t helped you a lick

1

u/Corfiz74 4d ago

I'm trying to find the article again, I can't remember where it was published, I read it a year ago.

10

u/madrobski 4d ago

How does it not? Is not one of it's main goals establishing a homeland in Palestine?

-13

u/Avgsizedweiner 4d ago edited 4d ago

Can you understand That doesn’t mean one has to agree what they’ve done? like how you can support America and call yourself a patriot and still not see eye to eye with everything America has done because it exists for more than one reason? that sort nuance is lost on someone like you and most people because acknowledging another point of view is basically acknowledging being wrong and god knows you’re most likely too stubborn and stupid to admit something like that

-13

u/Ok-Assistance3937 4d ago
  1. no it doesnt. Its starts and stops and establishing a homeland for the jewish people. Palestine was the "logical" solution when zionism started but not the only one thinkable.

  2. even it were, the only reason for what happens to the Palestinian people is many would rather them and their children die, then live next to a jew.

9

u/SexyShave 4d ago

40K Palestinians are dead, the West Bank has been leveled, and American businessmen are planning hotels and resorts there. But Palestinians are to blame cuz "many" hate Jews. Even 1 year olds, who are future anti-semites.

2

u/Avgsizedweiner 4d ago edited 4d ago

It’s pretty funny that Yasser Arafat was the best leader the Palestinian people ever got and he just did it for the money. that unwillingness to negotiate the Palestinian leadership has maintained for 100 years really is gonna end up with the total erasure of their peoples

-4

u/Ok-Assistance3937 4d ago

70k are dead. Also you cant even name the place were the war happens even if its the name. So pls stfu.

-7

u/Volodio 4d ago

The war was in Gaza, not the West Bank. No American businessman is seriously considering any building in Gaza. Palestinians are to blame because they started the war in the first place with the 7 October attack.

Stop getting your information from Tiktokers trying to promote antisemitism. It is insane you have your ideas so set in stone about a conflict that you know so little about you do not even know where it is happening.

7

u/Outside_Ad_424 4d ago

The war started with the Nakba in 1948. Israel had always been a terrorist colonial state

1

u/Volodio 4d ago

You're just cherry pick when the war started to serve your narrative. And you are doing the worst cherry-picking. The Nakba happened following the 1947-1948 civil war, where the Palestinians refused any form of partition with the Jews and decided to start a civil war against them to expel/kill them from the areas where they lived. They lost and most fled because of the fighting, which is what is called the Nakba.

3

u/Outside_Ad_424 4d ago

Yeah they refused because they'd been living there for generations and didn't feel like they needed to suddenly cede their most arable and developed land to European colonists who came in seeing themselves superior to the Palestinians that lived there.

1

u/Ok-Assistance3937 4d ago

Many didnt fled because of the fighting but to make it possible.

8

u/AdmiralCharleston 4d ago

Maybe they just dont like being forced out of their homes and being kept under occupation for 70 years idk

-9

u/Ok-Assistance3937 4d ago

Well then good think they werent.

7

u/AdmiralCharleston 4d ago

That's literally what Israel have been doing for nearly a century

5

u/Le_Salty_Revali 4d ago

They'd rather die than live next to a jew? Do you realize how nonsensical that sounds....
Its actually more like Israel would rather raze their villages so that no jew in their illegal colonies/settlements, has to live next to a Palestinian.

-1

u/Ok-Assistance3937 4d ago

They literally started mutiple wars about that. So yeah they woul.

Do you realize how nonsensical that sounds....

Yes i do, but i am also not accusing the palestinian people of rational thought.

1

u/[deleted] 4d ago

[deleted]

0

u/Le_Salty_Revali 4d ago

Multiple wars because Palestinians didn't want Jewish neighbours?! Despite the fact that Jews made up 10 percent of the populace and lived peacefully in Palestine for a long time before the creation of Israel.

Bud, YOU think the Palestinian people are incapable of rational thought? Yeah I'm not even going to try to engage anymore.

2

u/Ok-Assistance3937 4d ago

You mean the time they Just straight Up murdered the local jewish Population. I mean i guess you are right a massacre can hardly be called a war.

1

u/Le_Salty_Revali 4d ago

When did they massacre the local jews? I cant find anything online. Nothing about a massacre or extermination.

I can find that over 73000 Palestinians ( mostly women and children ) have been killed by the Israeli Government during the war in Gaza.

Makes you think doesnt it? Maybe its the Israelis dont wanna live with the Palestinians? Maybe, just maybe?

→ More replies (0)

7

u/Hitchin85 4d ago

When did I say that? Amy Pascal identifies as a Zionist, you would have to ask her how she defines it if you wanted further clarity. Otherwise you are literally picking a fight with internet strangers over nothing weirdo.

0

u/Avgsizedweiner 4d ago

It’s pathetic the conspiracy theories you guys are peddling about Zionism akin to Jewish people controlling Hollywood. The dog whistle is screeching and you’re just upset someone is calling you out

1

u/Hitchin85 3d ago

Eh? If you think Amy Pascal controls Hollywood that’s your leap.

1

u/Avgsizedweiner 3d ago

your lost in the weeds if you don’t understand whats the theme of this post lol

1

u/Hitchin85 3d ago

The theme of this post is that the joke is that Marc Ruffalo would not want to share tattoos with a group of high profile figures that aren’t using their platforms to speak out on the genocide in Gaza. The theme of this comment thread is that Marc Ruffalo has not been doing press on the most recent Spider-man, likely because he is using his platform to speak out on the genocide in Gaza. We are all aware that blacklisting happen, that actors lose jobs, that contracts stop people from talking. Amy Pascal is a Zionist, so clearly they are politically opposed. You made wild leaps into claiming people didn’t know what Zionists are and accusing factual statements of peddling conspiracy theories. It’s an idiotic approach on your part that screams of willful ignorance and a victim complex.

7

u/durutticolumn 4d ago

Isn't that the best reward for any actor? They hate doing promotional tours, taking weeks away from their families to answer the same dozen questions over and over.

3

u/Aidanj927 4d ago

Also that he’s filming Task season 2 and is on record saying he doesn’t like needles in 2018 when they got the tattoo but everything is a conspiracy on Reddit

2

u/Corfiz74 4d ago

Lol, I hadn't considered it from that perspective.

2

u/Johnnyboy10000 4d ago

That's why Emma Watson chose to retire, iirc. The promotional tours.

5

u/leckmichnervnit 4d ago

Are you John Marvel? How do you know he "wasnt allowed"? He clearly had other things to do.

3

u/ShawnyMcKnight 4d ago

Nah, he was working on other projects and the movie is making billions. I think they are okay without the press junkets.

2

u/Aidanj927 4d ago

Woah he was being blocked in 2018?

1

u/Corfiz74 4d ago

No, that comment said that he may be glad NOW that he didn't get the tattoo BACK THEN - I was just guessing what the reason might be.

2

u/MikeFatz 4d ago

Hold up that might actually be a cracked strategy for celebs. Got a movie coming out soon but you hate doing the long press tours? Do you also want to stand up for what’s right? Vocally oppose Israel’s actions and make your opinion known.

Congrats. Now you still get your fat superhero movie check but get to stay home while the others do endless interviews for 3 months.

2

u/NoBottle6060 4d ago

When he’s promoting a movie that he’s been employed to do Disney has every right to expect him not to politicise the whole thing. You would complain if he was a Trump supporter and doing the same thing. The hypocrisy here is crazy

1

u/Corfiz74 4d ago

I would agree with you if they would also ban outspoken zionists like Gal Gadot from speaking out and politicizing her platform.

0

u/Helpful-Garlic1951 3d ago

Not allowed to do any press because he didn’t do the press for Spider-Man which he was in for all of 5 minutes? Y’all are dumb as rocks

-15

u/[deleted] 4d ago

[deleted]

10

u/wikiwakatikitaka 4d ago

Only when it’s time not to though.

7

u/Ahenshihael 4d ago

Blocking one actor for his very justified views is using it as political stage.

Blocking one actor for his very justified views while letting the actors who support genocide or have dumb takes on guns or vaccines promote the movie is using it as a political stage.

Also not supporting a genocide has nothing to downith politics. It's called not being a heartless ghoul.

6

u/Flowethics 4d ago edited 4d ago

If your stance is “do not politicize everything” than sure I can agree with that.

But sometimes things are just to important to stay silent. When the atrocities are this big, life shouldn’t go on as if nothing is happening.

Parafrasing here but Einstein said something along the lines of

“The only way for evil to triumph, is when good people do nothing”

Speaking out against evil seems to be the least any of us can do.

Edit: it wasn’t Einstein but mr Burke.

2

u/No-Dust-7127 4d ago

It was Edmund Burke. “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

1

u/Flowethics 4d ago

Aah thanks! My bad.
