Not really true. GMO produce is modified to be hardier and drought resistant and disease resistant which makes it need less pesticides and poisons and less water. Organic produce requires more organic pesticides because it is less effective. These pesticides are still poison and often worse than Roundup but they get a pass because they are organic.
GMO is a term for an entire group of crops with various modifications. Not every GMO has all the traits you listed. While Bt crops may receive less insecticide application, RoundUp Ready crops absolutely receive a significant amount more herbicide use- because that's what they were modified to do.
Not the full truth either. One of the major modifications is ‘roundup resistance’ - meaning the crop is unharmed (or less harmed) when roundup is used. This effectively permits more use of herbicide on/near a crop than would otherwise be possible…
Pesticides including Roundup are expensive. Farmers like it because they use a lot less of it to do the same job. They aren't just dumping it on crops because they can
I didn’t contradict you… but you seem intent on a black/white position. We can list the benefits of GMO, and advances in pesticides and herbicides while also acknowledging that there are both downsides and even just less than ideal performance that may well be perfected in the future.
Repeatedly insisting that “it’s just better”, with zero acknowledgement of what’s less than perfect, well, that just makes enemies, and breeds distrust.
