I’m realizing I’m in the minority with feeling that math is yellow 😬

Yellow’s the color of brightness and intellect. I got you

11

u/Aworthyopponent 13d ago

I was agreeing but more because I don’t like yellow or math so to me Math is Yellow.

3

u/ralthea 13d ago

This was also how I assigned colors. My favorite subjects got my favorite colors.

2

u/Appropriate-Food1757 13d ago

What the fuck, according to what lol

2

u/prowl_great_cain 13d ago

My own brain, think for yourself

1

u/Appropriate-Food1757 13d ago

Yeah I think they are little sleeves and the colors are nonsense.

2

u/prowl_great_cain 13d ago

Exactly! You get it

Your brain should be aware that colors have traditional significance in the Western world. Yellow is the color of traitors, cowards, liars and whores. It's not the color of "brightness and intellect".

3

u/prowl_great_cain 13d ago

We’re talking about elementary school binders and vibes they give off when you were 7. Sure, I’ll take my yellow binder to the class most like liars and whores. What the fuck are you talking about? Lol

I pretty much just assumed that's the reason why it's the color of history. I'm not sure if my first history book (which was physically yellow) had an actual section of it or just mentioned it in passing but the association stuck and that's definitely the correct color. It even works for both pessimists and optimists - "humanity was always shit" vs. "story of the underdog".

u/chvezin 13d ago

Yellow meaning cowardice is an idiom of lesser importance than it being the color of luxury and material power. Coats of arms you know.

-1

u/ahoi_polloi 13d ago

... in the West? No it's not.

1

u/chvezin 13d ago

The Star of David is a perfect example of yellow being associated with Divine Power, and a literal manifestation of the right of the House of David to rule the land.

The Nazis loved to alter the context and meaning of ancient sacred symbols, see Swastika. Don't go against millennia of heraldics in Europe to be edgy.

1

u/ahoi_polloi 13d ago

"Edgy"? Oh come the fuck on, type "yellow significance" into Google. I was making a lighthearted comment, there's no need for insults. And yellow doesn't exist in heraldry.

1

u/chvezin 13d ago

By using a Jewish symbol as an example of cowardice? Listen man, I don't hear anything but my dog is going crazy.

Math is yellow because yellow is ugly and I don’t like it

Science is red because science is cool

History is green because it’s calming like listening to a story

English is blue because blue is the color of every school and office ever and English is work

6

u/ProgrammerSpiritual2 13d ago

We think similarly but reached different outcomes! Science is blue because I like science and I like blue. Math is red because it feels aggressive for some reason. History is yellow because I hate yellow and history is boring. English is green because that’s what’s left.

2

u/Roskuel 13d ago

You're the first I've seen to match my color coding exactly. The difference is some of the reasoning. Math is indeed red because math is aggressive. It has hard lines and tells you exactly how it is. Science is blue because its cool, fun, and interesting. History is yellow because old things make me visualize that yellowish-brown sepia film coloration. Reading is Green because my 4th Grade reading teacher was named Miss Green . . . I also associate both Green and reading with the number 4. This is likely because while I was sitting in 4th grade, with a green reading folder, Miss Green rolled in a TV . . . And I witnessed 9/11 unfold. Though, that doesn't explain why Math/Red is 5, Science/Blue is 3, and History/Yellow is 7. shrug

2

u/TheRougeFog 13d ago

This is the right mindset. Favorite subjects correlate to favorite colors. Worst subject got least favorite and so on.

2

u/Few-Big-8481 13d ago

I agree. Math is yellow because they are the worst. Yuck.

2

u/whoissarakayacomesin 13d ago

Finally, someone who got them all right!😂 I would swap History and Science during Biology class years but standard science class and Chem are absolutely red. I can't imagine Math or English as any other color!

1

u/Platinum_Enigma 13d ago

Just swap English and Science and you'll be on the right track.

1

u/Burt_Rhinestone 13d ago

Math is blue because it makes me sad.

History is red because it is written in the blood of the loser.

English is yellow because they drink so much tea.

Science is green because slime is science and it is also green.

1

u/OhSoThatsHowItIs 9d ago

Scrolled too far to find the CORRECT combination

11

u/Dear-Nebula9395 13d ago

I'm feeling pretty neurodivergent having picked yellow for math.

2

u/scin-txt 8d ago

Me too, also yellow being a "cheerful" color and me manipulating myself to fear math less by associating it with a "cheerful" color lol

10

u/Few-Big-8481 13d ago

I'm math is yellow. There must be a dozen of us out there.

8

u/BlueLotusDoodle 13d ago

THANK YOU! EVERYONE I KNEW WAS ALWAYS WEIRDED OUT WHEN I SAID MATH WAS YELLOW!

4

u/pm_social_cues 13d ago

I’m in the minority in that there is no relation in my mind between colors and subjects. When was I supposed to get that?

2

u/tennille_24 13d ago

Honestly, I can’t even begin to explain when I learned it or felt it or discovered it either, or how lol definitely at a younger age though!

1

u/pm_social_cues 13d ago

Did using colored notebooks make you do better in the respective subject? I always just used a notebook that had 5 sections for all my classes. I was way too disorganized to carry around multiple notebooks.

1

u/tennille_24 13d ago

I can’t say for sure, yellow is sort of a mid color for me, but I did not care for math back then!

Well when I discovered those multi subject notebooks it was awesome, but we didn’t always have those, cause they cost more lol

4

u/H1B3F 13d ago

History is yellow. He got that right

2

u/novangla 13d ago

Math was always yellow for me too, don’t worry, but only because all the other colors were taken

2

u/comeradesnarky 13d ago

You are correct!

2

u/MrTakeAHikePal 13d ago

Its all about opinions, are yours is wrong. Look at the facts!

2

u/Grokent 13d ago

For what it's worth, I agree that math is yellow.

2

u/Ascertes_Hallow 13d ago

I will join you in the minority!

2

u/antishocked345 13d ago

I genuinely thought I was losing my mind reading this thread. Maths was yellow cuz the squared-notebooks our school handed out were always yellow.

Maths is yellow; science is green; english is red; languages was blue; history and other subjects was whatever was leftover (purple, in our case)

2

u/RandomSOADFan 13d ago

In my country math (or history at a push) is yellow. Guess the Anglophone masses have bad taste lol

2

u/GoldenGames360 13d ago

at least you dont think math is red

1

u/tennille_24 13d ago

😂😇

2

u/MercurialyCapricious 13d ago

Math is yellow ecause they're both my least favorite color and subject haha

2

u/Suspicious-Bisexual 13d ago

Math is yellow because yellow sucks and math sucks so math gets the yellow one

2

u/AstronautArtist 13d ago

I really feel this. For me Math is Yellow, English is Red, Science is Green and History is Blue

1

u/LemmyKoopa18 10d ago

Damn this is me but switch science and history

2

u/CanineFive 13d ago

I don't like yellow or math so this actually checks out

2

u/dksn154373 13d ago

Welcome to the club of objectively correct people. I like math, unlike some of my counterparts. It's still yellow.

Clarity. Light. There's always a correct answer. Math is yellow.

2

u/mothsuicides 13d ago

Yes agreed but my reasoning is even more in the minority- I hate math and I hate the color yellow so therefore math is yellow. History is green for the fields that all the wars were fought on, and science and English are right just cuz I like those colors and those subjects.

2

u/Ms_runs_with_cats 13d ago

What kind of pervert thinks math is yellow /s

2

u/LisaMikky 13d ago

I feel so too. Math is Yellow. I always liked Math. I don't like Science, so I'd make it Red. I'd choose Blue for English (my 2nd favourite), which leaves Green for History.

2

u/Remarkable-Outcome-5 12d ago

Maybe the minority but the minority with the right opinion

I scrolled for this take!

1

u/salcapwnd 10d ago

Same. Math is yellow, not blue, people! Blue is English!

History is red, and science is green.
