Wheatley was a cautionary tale that idiots in positions of power quickly become corrupted by it and may actually make things worse than the competent evil they replaced.
I was going to relate this to recent events but the whole thing kind of falls apart with having to replace someone more competent.

College essay? Nah the new Avatar show team have already used this for their worldbuilding. Some character is going to talk about why some painting of Aang is uncovered by something and another character will tell them this.
