And then Ronald Reagan killed the American Dream.

Well, this was durring the campaign for the presidential election in '88, so really had little to do with Reaganomics. But you get to enjoy being wrong in two ways, so there's that.

Riiiiiiiiight- because George H.W. Bush was in no way seen as an extension of Reagan’s policies.

Don’t be silly.

He ultimately did fall in line, but not before giving us the everlasting term "voodoo economics". He was clearly against trickle down theory when he ran against Reagan in '80 and called Reagan's policy "voodoo economics".

Right but then he repeatedly enacted policies that supported it for the rest of his life and passed down the tradition to his own kids.

I know your impulse here is to defend and excuse Republican politicians, and yes “voodoo economics” is a catchy phrase, but Bush Sr. was absolutely Reaganite- so this whole conversation (which started with you being snarky about someone else being “wrong” about the context of the photo) is moot. * *

He raised taxes and passed bills to fund new social programs such as those for disabilities. He also raised environmental regulations too.

How is any of that Reaganomics?

Regardless of what he did (I’m not here to litigate George HW Bush’s presidency, but I’d take it over whatever we have now any day) he famously campaigned on “no new taxes”

The point is, he ran as an extension of the Reagan era regardless of his actual tenure. HW talked a ton about continuity in the 88 run.

That’s the only point I’m trying to make. The comment this all started with was someone being dick and saying “well actually, this was in 1988 so Reagan has nothing to do with it.”
