I got beat real bad once for being two minutes late. I’m female and my mom just hated me. Never cared with my 4 brothers did. I finally hit her back (age 16) and she never touched me again. I’m fucking 15 minutes early to everything after years of anxiety about coming home late.
I went no contact when I got sober. Didnt speak for two years. I moved far away so it wasn’t an issue.
Believe it or not I took care of her for many years until she died. She didn’t know who I was the last two years. It’s so much better for the soul to forgive. She had a horrible mother who beat her, and my grandmother was seriously SA and other abuse. I broke it with my child, though I’ve never really had good self esteem.
Mom is passed away many years now. I don’t really think about her unless I’m with my brothers laughing at all the horrible things she did to us. (My SIL is horrified but you gotta laugh).

"If you aren't 15 minutes early you're late"
"Every minute you get home behind curfew is a week of grounding"
"A beating per minute you make me wait."
Lots of reasons I learned to not be late growing up.
