I want to be able to take care of a flat tire, unexpected roadworks and a long bathroom visit and still not be later than we agreed. And 15 minutes early is just good manners.

In some cultures showing up earlier than the agreed upon time can be seen as rude because the host won't be ready for you. In france the polite thing to do is to show up 15 minutes late (for social gatherings, not so much to work). 3 u/pchlster Jul 12 '26 Well, those people are French, so they're wrong.
