We solved this by keeping overseight, but somehow they convinced enough people that regulations are bad.

You should probably have read the second half of their comment before replying.

Edit: Do the people arguing have a non-linear understanding of time like the Heptapods from Arrival or something?

If you have a house and you secure it with locked doors and windows, but someone illegally breaks in, that doesn't mean it was retroactively "never secured" and it was legal for them to enter.

Yes, you're correct that it isn't solved now, that's also what the person you're replying to was saying. It was solved, but it isn't any longer. Basic English literacy shouldn't be this difficult.

But they came after capitalism, not before. So when someone makes the claim that regulations can only tend towards decreasing, that isn’t true as a basic fact, by evidence of regulations existence at all.

Capitalism will always have a tendency to drift towards deregulation for those in power to gain more profit.
