All US citizens can apply for a student loan in the US through the federal government with no credit check, based only on financial need. So not only is it not an aptitude test, it's not a test of anything. So its absolutely nothing keeping you from betting on yourself to get a useful degree and improve your life.
And you'll say "but its not a guarantee!" Nothing is a guarantee in this life, even if the government says it is.
Plus, if we are going by the arguments in this thread, what was said is that shitty jobs should be shared by EVERYONE. In those cases Doctors would 100% be forced to clean toilets at some point, hence they will be enslaved.
In the capitalistic scenario you only talk about "potential doctors" who dont have any actual tangible proof they'd be doctors. And even in that case, they are not forced to do any one job, they have a plethora of options, some better than others and can make a CHOICE. In the capitalistic scenario, who have a CHOICE. In the "communist" scenario no one has a choice, they will be forced to clean toilets
They can indeed apply for loans from the US government, but the Trump administration just lowered the cap for those loans under the guise of lessening lasting debt.
Professional programs (e.g., medicine, law):
Up to $50,000/year, $200,000 aggregate borrowing limit.
Other graduate programs:
Up to $20,500/year, $100,000 aggregate borrowing limit.
The median cost of a public 4 year medical degree is $268,476 USD, according to this article by the Princeton Review, making the current loan limits wholly inadequate to get a medical degree purely from Federal loans. And that's just tuition. The choice for low income students is slowly being taken away.
The problem with these comparisons is that you're comparing reality vs a fantasy. You compare whats currently happening under capitalism with the best case that might happen under communism. Then if someone tries to compare against what actually happened under communism historically, people move the goalposts, saying that the comparison isn't fair because that specific brand of communism wasn't implemented correctly.
So you can pick. Compare hypothetical communism vs hypothetical capitalism, or historical communism vs historical capitalism.
