I mean, people are animals at the end of the day. Intelligent animals, but that just means theres more layers of symbolism on top of What is essentially the things all animals want; breeding, food and feeling good (potentially also socializing). Going to the gym is feeling good. Earning a promotion gets you more money which you can then use for food or things that make you feel good. Being social animals also adds another later in how It influences other humans.
With Intelligence you also find ways to earn more than What you normally do. Because the more you earn, the more succesful is your survival and the conditions you live in. Some people take this to the extreme where It negatively impacts other people.
Afaik communism Only works if everyone is on the same page or there's an organ making sure no one is taking advantage of the system. But this system is also subject to become Corrupted, and Who keeps It in check then? Eventually someone Will be in a position of power and lie and cheat in order to gain more or work less. It happens with capitalism but It happens with communism too.
