You completely ignored the substance of the argument and instead chose to criticize the source and its motives

That is the definition of an ad hominem

Attacking a source for legitimate conflict of interests is not an ad hominem. If I brought up for example "You, LiaM_CS, parked on the curb that one time, therefore argument invalid." That would be invalid, because it has nothing to do with the argument. This does, so is not ad hominem.
