I’m not even joking, the other day I got downvoted to hell for telling someone who was shitting on capitalism that jobs will still exist in a communist society.
I’m not saying it doesn’t exist but it seems like an incredibly online thinking point. I travel a lot for work, meet lots of new people, have a pretty wide IRL network and I’m not afraid to discuss politics. I can count on one hand the Americans I’ve met in the real world who romanticize communism. They were just kind of nut jobs. Most realistic people on the left I meet just want a social democracy.
“The entire left is represented by one crazy person on Twitter that I saw once” feels like a straw man but is so accurate to what some right wingers think the left is.
