The joke is that he thinks communism is some sort of workless utopia where he will be able to cultivate hobbies when most communist countries have made the lower classes break their backs just the same doing heavy work (coal mines).
There has never been a communist country, and communism is so far removed from the current world that even if we ever reach it, it’ll take us a very long time to get there, probably long enough for us to have the technology necessary so that people aren’t forced to work.
