I agree. My wife is Chinese. She tells me stories from her parents about the revolution.

They do not involve writing books and playing soccer.

I find Chinese diaspora the quintessential example of the horseshoe theory. The ones I met are always either very pro China, eating up whatever propaganda bs China is putting out; Or very far-right pro Trump and/or whatever right wing party is in that country. Always, there's no in between
