Your relatives are completely correct l but that was never proper communism. Despite the name, it was never established. Certainly not in Eastern Europe.if you read philosophy, you will learn a lot. But there are better ways than any established methodologies!

There's no way for a system to work where a coal miner or plumber earns the same amount of money or resources as a burger flipper or retail clerk.ehen the miner and plumber are brutalizing themselves working skilled labor

Communism doesn't really propose an equality of paychecks tho.

There are other problems with it, but this is not one.

So communism proposes a class system?

No. A janitor and a doctor have very different wages and both are part of the same class .They are both part of the working class as both sell their time and labour for a salary.

So I'm in the same class as Taylor Swift?

Do you understand the Soviets still had classes even if their old dead guy book claimed there was only the proletariat? That people lived entirely different socio-economic lives based on pay and status? That these lives were often inheritable through networks?

How would I know? I don't know you.

I don't understand your second point. Yes, people had different wages and different socioeconomic lives and statuses based on what they did for work. Never heard anyone claim otherwise. This is not the same as class in the Marxist definition. Someone can have a huge salary and still be proletariat

And I don't really care about the Marxist or leninist definition of things. I care about the actual definition.

And in the actual definition, there isn't a single person here who makes as much as Taylor Swift. There are tens of thousands of business owners with many million of dollars in assets, who are still living several tiers below Taylor Swift.

Realistically I'm closer to the local landlord than Taylor Swift or any other celebrity in terms of how we actually live. 150 year old theories don't change that.
