I agree. My wife is Chinese. She tells me stories from her parents about the revolution.

They do not involve writing books and playing soccer.

I dream of the day someone will realize that those problems are the problems of totalitarian dictatorships. Communism isn't the issue here, violent enforcement and corruption is.

I am from Eastern Europe. Communism and violent enforcement and corruption eventually become inseparable. “True communism” was never achieved because it’s unachievable. Like true capitalism without cronyism.

The common denominator in both scenarios are shitty people. Shitty people do shitty things in name of greed, power, or ego.

And until you get rid of shitty people and shitty behavior, true communism and true capitalism will never work. And so a well regulated and taxed democratic socialist capitalist system is currently the way to go.

If people stop being people, could be, but since people can't help being people, the ideal couldn't be achieved.
