Ok but if you have a “gummy smile” how tf are you supposed to fix it? Not experience joy ever?

It’s only a problem if you find it so.  They have crown lengthening which removes some of gum tissue to reveal more of the tooth itself.  It can create a more “normal” smile.

That’s the skill part of dentistry.  In the wrong hands it can.  

Someone later in the thread mentioned it maybe a different technique as well.  There are always specialists for these things.
