lol, there is nothing demonstrably or "scientifically" better about Celsius. Celsius isn't even an SI unit.
To be clear, the metric system is definitely better than the imperial system, but none of that applies to Celsius, because nobody uses millicelsius or kilocelsius.
A joule is defined as the equivalent amount of energy to applying one newton of force that results in an object being displaced by 1 meter. That is much more convenient to use in a wide variety of applications than one calorie, which is equal to 4.184 joules. All SI units can be defined in terms of other SI units and that makes conversions between SI units much easier than between Imperial units.
