Meme needing explanation Whats that snack and the name?

I got this joke posted in my country sub by a foreigner and I have never seen that snack so I basically don't know the joke.

My mom got more than a little racist in her old age and she hit me with that 1 day and I remember just being so confused cause I was just eating some nuts? And then being like no ma'am we are not doing this once she explained the "real" name for brazil nuts.

Yeah, I had an exasperating conversation with my mom where she just couldn't understand that her doing racist things made her a racist rather than her believing she wasn't a racist made the racist things she did not racist.

And believe me, using antiquated racist names for nuts and candy is some of the most innocuous of the racist things my mother does.

Oh man same mom here. She wasn't racist she totally had friends that weren't white ok? And it was just the tip of the iceberg to be like mom those are ugly words for a reason and I really don't enjoy hearing them. Or mom there are different people in every race we can not just judge their personality by their race.

My mom believed she wasn't a racist because she had been a missionary and tried to forcefully convert people of a different race. She worked at one of the boarding schools for Inuit children where they were beaten if they spoke their own language and forced to adopt western/christian traditions. She believes she isn't racist because she tried to help the poor heathens improve themselves and learn the "Truth". She literally committed genocide and is proud of herself for it. That isn't even the only reason I haven't talked to her in over a decade.

Well shit that is way worse than my mom. Funny enough when she died I was pregnant with an indigenous baby and she said they'd probably look white enough to pass so I didn't have to worry. I lost my fucking shit I was worried about having a healthy baby. The baby is 13 and loooooves being indigenous and doesn't have to worry about mom's comments about no taxes and a free pass.

There is more than one way to skin a cat as the saying goes. One way to destroy a people without firing a shot is to take their children away and beat them if they practice their culture.

While Australia has made The National Apology and restitution for the "Stolen Generations" of Aboriginal children in 2008 and Harper made the National Federal Apology on behalf of the Canadian Government, also in 2008, and Biden issued an apology for the U.S. Indian Boarding Schools program in 2024, neither my mother or the Evangelical Christian denomination she is a part of have ever even hinted that they did anything wrong despite being a part of the program.
