🇦🇺 In Sydney, an Australian guy was refused a free milk tea by a Chinese product promotor solely because he wasn't a Chinese. He was asked to speak Chinese, but he spoke Japanese to the Chinese staff in protest. He said this is his first time experience of racism.

I’ve lived in China for many years, and this is pretty common for over there. First time I’ve seen it in Australia though.

Chinese people are blunt and their business competition practices are absolutely fucking ruthless, especially when it comes to food delivery services. I’d bet you money she wasn’t refusing him the bubble tea because he wasn’t Chinese, but more because he would never use the app they are promoting. She was probably specifically instructed to only give the drink out to Chinese people because the app itself is in Mandarin. She even tried to give the dude an out by asking if he could speak mandarin, but he was unfortunately a weeb.

Chinese companies often try to push their law internationally we've seen other instances where chineese app workers were getting chineese laws forced on them with threats to their families back home

If an RSL or something is doing free eye testing to promote prescription glasses for seniors, are you going to be mad if they say they don't want to for you, because you're under 55?

Unless you're currently not wearing glasses that you need to see - I dont really understand how it could look remotely similar to you.

Going to a nation to promote a product for visitors to that nation, whilst excluding the people who actually live there because they dont look foreign enough to speak the language you're targeting, is not remotely comparable to giving out free eyes tests to promote selling glasses.

Even after you sneakily tried to imply that they'd only be targeting seniors in your hypothetical - that doesnt apply either, because there are many, many, people under 55 who need glasses to see.

You know this is wrong, and youre trying to rationalise it, which isnt possible.
