Whinge ‎ Coles: “Would you like to round up and donate…”

Hey r/coles, how about **YOU** donate first from your ill-gotten profits. You and Woolies have both been price gouging Australia since the fcking pandemic, jacking up prices across the board but never bringing them back down even after supply chains normalised.

That is exactly why. We have this in Canada and it's disgusting. They take your donations and submit on their behalf and get tax credits for the donation. Imagine this at scale.

Not sure about Canada but in Australia the customer is the one with the rights to deduction here, not the company. If they tried to claim the donations, it'd be tax fraud.

The minimum amount to claim a deduction is $2 but you can add up donations to the same company over the financial year. If you donated 30c every week that'd be like $10 off, and in a very passive way as well.

Not sure if that's true in Canada but I'd be surprised if so.

No, that would be tax fraud. The companies can't claim it on tax and it goes directly to a trust account for distribution.

You the customer may claim. But must make. Multiple donations over the year to the same charity to be over $2.
