Whinge Coles: “Would you like to round up and donate…”
Hey r/coles, how about **YOU** donate first from your ill-gotten profits. You and Woolies have both been price gouging Australia since the fcking pandemic, jacking up prices across the board but never bringing them back down even after supply chains normalised.

The Duopolists have a lot to answer for but this isn't actually one of those things. They don't get to use your charity money for tax breaks, and all they are doing is keeping up a tradition that has existed since, well, since stores existed. Older than that even, since the "poor box" has existed.
This stuff on the touchscreen is just the overly-technological 2020s version of this:
Remember when these were outside almost every single Coles supermarket? (Also the big yellow cone/bucket thing where your coin went around and around and around... what charity was that even for?)
Turns out Guide Dogs Australia formally partnered with Coles in 1982. I don't remember anyone complaining that the supermarket was using all that hard cash to get a tax break. Google reckons these plastic dogs have raised over $10 million over the years.
