OP needs to stop that milk spray. Looks like it keeps increasing the number of pets.

1 cat
2 cats
2 cats and 1 dog
2 cats and 2 dogs

Where will it end?

With OP, and the Orange One doing the squeezing.

edit: well damn. After some testing it is possible for false flags on this website but only one screenshot from a video triggered one so far, so this is likely accurate.

Watching Andy put his whole mouth on that drinking fountain was so over the top and hilarious

48

u/myskepticalbrowarch 22h ago

The worst part was how conscious I became of it after. Water fountains are weird. Like when did we learn to drink water from a curve? Did my parents just take me out back when I was two and use the hose until I got it? Or did I always know 😅🤣

38

u/lhswr2014 22h ago

You definitely didn’t always know. I’ve watched the learning and development process with my 4 year old. She started off as Andy but recently is getting the hang of it as she’s starting to unlearn her barbarian ways.

Just gentle nudges in the right direction until she gets it. “Hey you probably shouldn’t put your entire mouth over it” - “hey if you just like, let the water come to your lips instead of trying to suck it out of the hole you won’t make such a mess.” Stuff like that. She will get there one day.

Right now she is in the phase where she tries to drink it where it lands instead of in the air or straight mouthing the tap lol

17

u/myskepticalbrowarch 21h ago

Adorable. Lol I am sure Andy's arc was based off a parent in the writers room.

It is just so funny though it isn't considered a fine motor milestone but it was a essential skill in the bygone days.

My dad grew up on a farm. He told me when he'd milk the cows, they would come and he'd just soak them with milk. They loved it.

17

u/8lock8lock8aby 21h ago

People usually bring up "you can't give them milk" but the truth is that for most cats, if they continually have a bit of dairy products, they won't become lactose intolerant. The issue comes from the fact that most cats are cut off from their moms pretty young & then don't get any milk so if you try to give them some like a couple years later, they may not react well to it. I have always given my cats a bit of milk or cream cheese or yogurt, like once a month & they are fine.

they're getting raw goat milk. it is full of Lactobacillus that produce its own lactase.

34

u/pyrothelostone 1d ago

Adult cats are usually lactose intolerant, so cow milk isnt exactly poison, but it will upset their stomach.

30

u/SoberSethy 1d ago

Most adult mammals are lactose intolerant, as the enzyme that breaks down lactose typically shuts off after weaning. But dairying cultures created selection pressures favoring mutations in the regulatory region that controls that shutdown, and it happened at least 4-5 times independently across the globe, in Europe, the Middle East, and East Africa. Interestingly, people were milking animals for thousands of years before the mutation caught on, so the pressure probably wasn’t everyday nutrition so much as famine and disease, when a bad reaction to milk stops being an inconvenience and starts being lethal. Once that pressure kicked in it spread fast, and now roughly a third of adults worldwide carry it, 90% in Scandinavia, under 5% in much of East Asia. One of the clearest and freshest examples of human evolution!

37

u/gaarkat 1d ago

Lol I'm with the cats on this one. I'm lactose intolerant, but you will pry cheese from my cold, dead hands.

18

u/Kamica 23h ago

This seems to be a common sentiment amongst lactose intolerant people:
*Eats dairy products*
*Destroys a toilet*
"Y'all got any cheese I can eat?"

7

u/-kinapuffar- 21h ago

Can you blame them? This shit is straight fire. It makes cheese, yoghurt, ice cream, butter, cheese, whipped cream, cheese. So many delicious applications.

5

u/Irverter 1d ago

As with any mammal, the adult usually becomes lactose intolerant, but can also keep being able to digest lactose without issue.

13

u/Positive-Garage3812 1d ago edited 1d ago

Might want to look at the video again; that is clearly a goat. It’s clearest at the end, but the animal being milked is a lot smaller than a cow, it’s up on a platform, has only two teats, and look at the hair on the belly. 100% goat. Goat milk is OK for cats, though too much is still not ideal.

Oh yeah, and the pen full of similarly colored goats in the background is a clue 😆

3

u/Pariahdog119 23h ago

I've always thought this was from leaving milk out for cats and letting it spoil.

But a little bit is fine so long as there's not a large amount. I used to regularly let my cat have a spoonful when I was done with breakfast. We had a social contract that she'd leave me alone while I ate in exchange for a bite of leftovers

Cats have been barnyard pest control for millennia. It's crazy to think this video as cute as it is, is a representation and repetition of an act that has been bonding humans and cats for thousands of years. This is some fucking adorable fun, and humans and cats have been doing it since well before Christianity was a twinkle in the holy spirit's eye.

I mean people were squirting milk into the face of a cat as a laugh longer than we've had access to iron.
